From village crossroads to global stages, Irish dance has evolved over the last 300 years into a worldwide phenomenon. Through costumes and certificates, explore its colourful and rich history with this exhibition that charts the story of Irish Dance at home and abroad over the last 125 years. With almost 100 objects, ranging in date from a medieval brooch to contemporary diamante embroidered costume, uncover the personal stories of emigrants and those who travelled abroad as performers. Learn of the role many women have played in championing change and innovation through designing sets and costumes, and choreographing new work.
