How your support will help…

Every week in Northern Ireland another three children, teenagers or young adults, aged 0-24 years, will be diagnosed with cancer. With a short break at Daisy Lodge these families are welcomed into a haven where they can spend time together as a family and enjoy therapeutic support from our specialist team. During their stay families are offered group sessions, individual support and complementary therapies.

"Daisy Lodge became our sanctuary, our retreat away from hospital, our safe place. Our short break gave us freedom, we could relax."

Cancer Fund for Children is the only charity in Ireland providing free therapeutic short breaks to children and families coming to terms with the devastating impact of a childhood cancer diagnosis. Daisy Lodge has provided over 2000 therapeutic short breaks to families whose lives have been devastated by cancer since opening in April 2014.

We engage the whole family with family group work sessions. This allows relationships to be forged with other families staying at Daisy Lodge. These sessions help build resilience, connect family members and create lasting memories.

Individual one-to-one sessions provides focused support to family members and encourages individuals to express their emotions, and develop positive coping strategies.

Group work sessions help to reduce the feeling of isolation experienced by family members and create opportunities for individuals to tell their story.

Children and young people with cancer, along with adults caring for a sick child, are offered complementary therapies including reflexology, aromatherapy and Indian head massage. This helps to promote relaxation, reduce stress and improve an individual’s wellbeing.

But our support can only go so far…

Cancer Fund for Children offer a lifeline to these families; when lost and confused we offer a place to turn to. We want to rejuvenate them and give them the strength and resilience they need to continue on their cancer journey.

Cancer Fund for Children receives less than 0.5% government funding. We simply could not provide vital support to over 500 families every year without you.

With you by our side, we can ensure that no family has to face cancer alone… let’s go girls!
