{"id":11029,"date":"2016-03-22T09:45:10","date_gmt":"2016-03-22T08:45:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=11029"},"modified":"2016-03-22T09:45:10","modified_gmt":"2016-03-22T08:45:10","slug":"st-columb%e2%80%99s-cathedral-to-host-young-american-chamber-choir-for-free-concert-on-easter-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2016\/03\/st-columb%e2%80%99s-cathedral-to-host-young-american-chamber-choir-for-free-concert-on-easter-monday\/","title":{"rendered":"St. Columb\u2019s Cathedral to host young American chamber choir for free concert on Easter Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>The Ashley Hall Red Choir and Chamber Choir from South Carolina will stop off in Derry for a very special Easter Monday performance in the beautiful surrounds of St. Columb\u2019s Cathedral.<\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/press21.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-large wp-image-11030\" title=\"press\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/press21-1024x682.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"491\" height=\"327\" \/><\/a>Ashley Hall is a preparatory girls\u2019 school in Charleston, South Carolina and the Red Choir is an auditioned ensemble for students who are dedicated to the art of choral music. The choir performs throughout the school year, with major performances at Christmas and graduation. In addition to performing in the Charleston community, members of the Red Choir have performed throughout the United States and Europe, most recently completing a successful tour of Italy.<\/p>\n<p>The choir is conducted by Dr. Robin Garner who is in her tenth year as Director of Choral Activities at Ashley Hall. Dr. Garner studied music and conducting in both Ireland and the USA and is a founding member of the Southern Appalachian Chamber Singers, a professional choir based in Asheville, North Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>The youngest member of the group described how \u201cthis is the first trip to Ireland and Northern Ireland for many of our singers and we are very excited to have the opportunity to perform in such beautiful venues and to take in so many counties in one tour.
