{"id":11859,"date":"2016-06-22T10:16:49","date_gmt":"2016-06-22T09:16:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=11859"},"modified":"2016-06-22T10:16:49","modified_gmt":"2016-06-22T09:16:49","slug":"year-of-food-and-drink-showcase-at-armoy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2016\/06\/year-of-food-and-drink-showcase-at-armoy\/","title":{"rendered":"Year of Food and Drink Showcase at Armoy"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>LOCAL food and drink producers will have the opportunity to showcase their products at this year\u2019s Armoy Road\u00a0Races on Friday 29<sup>th<\/sup> and Saturday\u00a030<sup>th<\/sup> July 2016.<\/h1>\n<figure id=\"attachment_11860\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-11860\" style=\"width: 368px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/press34.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-large wp-image-11860  \" title=\"press\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/press34-1024x754.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"368\" height=\"271\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-11860\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gearing up for the Food and Drink Showcase at this year\u2019s Armoy Road Races are from left, Heather Quiery, from Lacada Brewery Co-op, Shauna McFaul, from Naturally North Coast and Glens, Bill Kennedy, Clerk of the Course, Ryan Farquhar and Peter Louden, Assistant Clerk of the Course pictured at last month\u2019s North West 200. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Armoy Road Races is one of Northern Ireland\u2019s prime motorsport gatherings, attracting motorcycle riders both locally and internationally.\u00a0\u00a0Last year there were a record number of spectators to the event and in the run up to the main racing dates, a variety of events such as classic car and motorcycle displays, a horseshoe throwing competition, BBQs and the bikers\u2019 ride out will take place from Sunday 24<sup>th<\/sup> July followed by practice on Friday 29<sup>th<\/sup> and racing on Saturday 30<sup>th<\/sup> July 2016.<\/p>\n<p>By teaming up with Tourism Northern Ireland for its Year of Food and Drink campaign, this year visitors to the road races will be able to sample and buy local produce in a dedicated food and drink marquee.<\/p>\n<p>Shauna McFaul from Ballycastle Market said, \u201cWe are delighted to be involved with the road races this year.\u00a0\u00a0It gives us the opportunity to show off all the wonderful, tasty and innovative food and drinks which are produced in the area in an exciting and unique setting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll have\u00a0plenty of stalls\u00a0providing an opportunity for everyone to try as well as buy what\u2019s on offer.\u00a0\u00a0Armoy Road Races is a great event to be associated with and we are really looking forward to being there.\u00a0\u00a0The Year of Food and Drink has monthly themes and as the theme for July is seas, rivers and coasts, we are well situated to enable some of our great fish producers to show what they do.\u00a0\u00a0In addition to the theme, we\u2019ll have everything from artisan cakes and breads to a selection of local craft ales and beers available.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ann Moreland from Tourism Northern Ireland said, \u201cWe are pleased to support the food and drink showcase at this year\u2019s Armoy Road Races.\u00a0\u00a0The NI Year of Food and Drink is a celebration of our local heritage and gives visitors a true taste of what local producers and traders have to offer.\u00a0\u00a0Being involved with Armoy Road Races gives us an exclusive event to promote what is available in North Antrim.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now in its eight year, the Armoy Road Races is set to be another hotly contested event with a quality line up of riders, which usually includes the like of locals and brothers Michael and William Dunlop, as well as some notable riders from the Republic of Ireland, Great Britain and further afield.
