{"id":12351,"date":"2016-08-23T22:47:39","date_gmt":"2016-08-23T21:47:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=12351"},"modified":"2016-08-23T22:47:39","modified_gmt":"2016-08-23T21:47:39","slug":"causeway-coast-mini-event-sunday-28th-august","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2016\/08\/causeway-coast-mini-event-sunday-28th-august\/","title":{"rendered":"CAUSEWAY COAST MINI EVENT &#8211; SUNDAY 28th AUGUST"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>You could be forgiven for thinking that Portrush was in the midst of a remake of the film \u201c<strong>The Italian<\/strong> <strong>Job<\/strong>\u201d this weekend as hundreds of Minis are destined for the \u2018ports on Sunday for the annual <strong>Causeway Coast Mini Event<\/strong>.<\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/PicMonkey-Collage20.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-large wp-image-12352\" title=\"PicMonkey Collage\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/PicMonkey-Collage20-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"430\" height=\"430\" \/><\/a>Celebrating its <strong>20th Anniversary<\/strong> the <strong>Causeway Coast Mini Club<\/strong> have added several new features including a draw that is hoped will raise considerable funds for the <strong>Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children<\/strong> and the <strong>Paddy Hopkirk Children\u2019s Charity Trust<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The organisers are quick to thank their sponsors <strong>Morellis Ices, J.K.C. Minis <\/strong>and<strong> Minisport<\/strong> and Club Chairman Andy Shaw enthused \u201ctheir help is staging this has been nothing short of brilliant and I really don\u2019t know what we\u2019d do without them\u201d.\u00a0 The local Council are equally supportive and have even engaged <strong>Dynamic Audio Visual <\/strong>to supply a concert sound system.\u00a0 <strong>Brian Moore<\/strong> has also been brought on board this year as Compere and says he \u201ccan\u2019t wait as it\u2019s always such a great day\u201d.\u00a0 The Mini Enthusiasts come in their hundreds from all over the island and beyond and it all starts with a fun run from Bushmills Distillery Car Park to Portstewart on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>Then on Sunday they congregate on <strong>Dunluce Green from 10.00am<\/strong> where the day will feature stalls, stands and music.\u00a0 The show features over seventeen classes of cars both classic and new-style minis and <strong>JKC Mini<\/strong> supply awards with a 1st and runner up in each one.\u00a0 The Minis will depart the site in their usual style at <strong>4.00pm <\/strong>and follow a route through the town with the classic minis actually crossing the bridge at Portrush Harbour before making their way along Main Street.\u00a0 <strong>Morellis Ices<\/strong> generously take care of the \u201cpit stop\u201d in Station Square with a free <strong>Morellis Ice Cream <\/strong>for every occupant of each mini!<\/p>\n<p>Attendance at the event is <strong>absolutely free <\/strong>and this year there\u2019s a chance to win a <strong>\u00a3500 Sealey Tool<\/strong> <strong>Chest <\/strong>supplied by <strong>Minisport<\/strong>, <strong>\u00a3100 worth of shopping Tesco Shopping Vouchers<\/strong> donated by <strong>Morellis Ices<\/strong> and a voucher for <strong>Dinner for Two at The Anchor Complex.<\/strong><\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You could be forgiven for thinking that Portrush was in the midst of a remake of the film \u201cThe Italian Job\u201d this weekend as hundreds of Minis are destined for the \u2018ports on Sunday for the annual Causeway Coast Mini Event.
