{"id":14232,"date":"2017-05-23T12:54:04","date_gmt":"2017-05-23T11:54:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=14232"},"modified":"2017-05-23T12:54:04","modified_gmt":"2017-05-23T11:54:04","slug":"causeway-coast-and-glens-borough-council-has-unveiled-its-summer-recreation-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2017\/05\/causeway-coast-and-glens-borough-council-has-unveiled-its-summer-recreation-programme\/","title":{"rendered":"Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has unveiled its summer recreation programme."},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 style=\"line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">The fun filled line-up, developed by Council\u2019s Sport Development and Physical Recreation Team, will begin on Monday 3<sup>rd<\/sup> July and run until Friday 11<sup>th<\/sup> August.<\/span><\/h1>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">This year\u2019s programme will have something for everyone, offering a fantastic selection of 62 courses covering 27 different activities. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Alderman Maura Hickey said: \u201cThe packed programme has so much to offer this year, with activities including cricket<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-14233\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/press2-36.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"285\" \/>, rowing, badminton and paddle boarding. I would like to encourage all young people to get involved. They can learn new skills, meet new friends and have fun all at the same time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">Sports Development Manager (Central), Stephen McCartney, who leads the Programme, said: \u201cCouncil\u2019s Sports Development Team is committed to offering a wide a range of quality activities for young people and we believe this year\u2019s programme will exceed expectations. The Table Tennis Camp and Soccer Starz Indoor Camp are new additions to the programme and will appeal to a much wider audience, with traditional favourites such as tennis, hockey and golf also available. Each course is designed to increase the participant\u2019s skill level but more importantly, the emphasis is on having lots of fun.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%;\">\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">\u201cThere is also a special incentive for young budding footballers this year. Participants on all soccer school courses will receive a free football to help practice their skills.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%;\">\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">Due to popular demand, the swimming courses follow the same format as last year with levels 1\u201310 in the main pool and minnows\u2019 levels 1-4 in the minor pool.\u00a0 They are also in keeping with the centre\u2019s lessons, offering value for money and continuity. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">The full price for individuals to participate per course is \u00a330 each. There is a special discount ticket available priced at \u00a324 per person per course, for those who have a current Access to Leisure Card. This discount is also available for anyone enrolling for a minimum of three courses per household (activities must be booked at the same time).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">Enrolment will begin on Saturday 3<sup>rd<\/sup> June at 8.15am at Coleraine Leisure Centre. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">All interested parties will only be permitted to enrol one family on the initial day of enrolment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">For those children who do not wish to be part of the sporting activities, Council\u2019s Summer Recreation Programme will also be running numerous summer schemes throughout the borough. Taking place in Coleraine West, Coleraine Leisure Centre, Bushmills, Portstewart, Castlerock, Garvagh and Kilrea, full information brochures are now available.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: 150%;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">Summer Recreation Programme brochures with summer scheme details and enrolment forms are available from Coleraine Leisure Centre.
