{"id":14404,"date":"2017-06-18T15:04:24","date_gmt":"2017-06-18T14:04:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=14404"},"modified":"2017-06-19T11:08:45","modified_gmt":"2017-06-19T10:08:45","slug":"outside-the-ropes-at-the-dubai-duty-free-irish-open-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2017\/06\/outside-the-ropes-at-the-dubai-duty-free-irish-open-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Outside the Ropes&#8217; at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">There will be more than just world-class golf to enjoy when the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open comes to Portstewart next month from Wednesday 5<sup>th<\/sup> until Sunday 9<sup>th<\/sup> July. <\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-14405\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/press2-13-1024x702.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"309\" \/>The Crescent area will be transformed into a live music venue and outdoor cinema for the 2017 \u2018Fringe Festival\u2019, creating a unique tournament atmosphere in the host town.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">Children will love the face painters, balloon modelling and walkabout characters and on Saturday night, the skies over Portstewart will light up with a spectacular fireworks display. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">Midsummer Sessions, a spin-off from the popular Atlantic Sessions, will see over 30 musicians playing free gigs in bars, hotels, coffee shops restaurants across the four days. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">For ease of access, the park and ride service will operate until the end of the entertainment every evening.\u00a0 And to encourage people to travel from the golf course to the town centre, patrons can use Translink\u2019s 140 service from the Burnside Road to the Promenade \u2013 seamlessly connecting the action on the green to the heart of the town.<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">Park and Ride drop off and pick up points are located on Strand Road.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">As the excitement builds, the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Joan Baird OBE, said: \u201cThe Dubai Duty Free Irish Open presents a wonderful opportunity to showcase our Destination to the world. Portstewart\u2019s stunning location provides the perfect backdrop, and with top class golf and entertainment with the emphasis on family fun, it\u2019s a long weekend not to be missed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Arial','sans-serif';\">Aine Kearney, Tourism NI Director of Business Support and Events commented: \u201cThe Dubai Duty Free Irish Open will bring thousands of domestic, national and international visitors to Portstewart and the wider Causeway Coastal Route this July, with footage of the event and the surrounding area beamed to over 450 million households worldwide.
