{"id":15174,"date":"2017-10-03T18:43:50","date_gmt":"2017-10-03T17:43:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=15174"},"modified":"2017-10-03T18:43:50","modified_gmt":"2017-10-03T17:43:50","slug":"follow-the-yellow-brick-road-to-the-forum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2017\/10\/follow-the-yellow-brick-road-to-the-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"Follow the yellow brick road to the Forum\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>The Grove Theatre Group returns to the Millennium Forum with the family favourite classic \u201cThe Wizard of Oz\u201d from Wednesday 11<sup>th<\/sup> October to Saturday 14<sup>th<\/sup> October 2017.<\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-15175\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/press2-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"492\" height=\"327\" \/>\u2018The Wizard of Oz\u2019 is perhaps one of the best known of all musicals, famous for songs such as \u2018Somewhere over the Rainbow\u2019 and \u2018Follow the Yellow Brick Road\u2019.\u00a0 Equally well known for wonderful characters such as Dorothy, The Scarecrow, Tinman and the Cowardly Lion the story is one of a little girl who tries to protect her dog Toto from the horrible Miss Gultch and sets off on an amazing dreamlike journey to the land of Oz.\u00a0 Along the way Dorothy meets good witches, bad witches, the amazing Munchkins, the Winkies and the evil monkeys.\u00a0 She travels through the enchanted forest and battles the Wicked Witch of the West in her lair, all the while wearing her magical ruby shoes.\u00a0 When she and her new found friends, the Scarecrow, Tinman and Cowardly Lion eventually get to meet the great \u2018Wizard of Oz\u2019, they find that all is not as they expected.<\/p>\n<p>The production is a wonderful story of self-discovery, told with the aid of excellent sets, colourful costumes and lighting, special effects and featuring a cast of experienced and talented actors.\u00a0 With music and choreography of the highest calibre this production of the \u2018Wizard of Oz\u2019 promises to be a magical journey along the \u2018yellow brick road\u2019 into a fantasy world where entertainment is guaranteed.<\/p>\n<p>This show features local performers including Laura Brown and Orfhlaith McGee sharing the role of Dorothy; Lana Campbell and Jemma McGlinchey sharing the role of Glinda; Eddie O\u2019Donnell as the Scarecrow; Kieran Connor as The Lion; Roderick Canning as the Tinman; Hugo Crumlish as Professor\/Wizard; Kate Robinson and Micaela McGillian sharing the role of Wicked Witch of the West;
