{"id":16057,"date":"2018-04-17T17:02:13","date_gmt":"2018-04-17T16:02:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=16057"},"modified":"2018-04-17T17:02:13","modified_gmt":"2018-04-17T16:02:13","slug":"watoto-childrens-choir-to-make-may-day-extra-merry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2018\/04\/watoto-childrens-choir-to-make-may-day-extra-merry\/","title":{"rendered":"Watoto Children\u2019s Choir to make May Day extra Merry"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Holywood\u2019s annual May Day event on Monday 7 May will resound with music and dance thanks to some very special guests, the Watoto Children\u2019s Choir.<\/h1>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-16058\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/PicMonkey-Collage-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"350\" \/>The Ugandan choir will brighten the town centre with their vibrant performance during the afternoon of the day-long event. \u00a0Holywood is one stop on the Choir\u2019s 12 day tour of Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>Each child in the Watoto Children\u2019s Choir has suffered the loss of one or both parents and now lives in a Watoto village.\u00a0 The Choir has travelled the world, taking the opportunity to share the children\u2019s\u2019 talents and their plight with enthralled audiences; Ards and North Down Borough Council is delighted to welcome the choir to Holywood.<\/p>\n<p>This year Merry May Day has an enchanting spring and floral theme and although Watoto Children\u2019s Choir is a highlight, the full day programme offers fun for all ages. \u00a0Bringing the spring theme to life, Floris the mystical flower nymph will be gliding through the crowds in her beautifully adorned globe \u2013 this captivating display will be a first for Northern Ireland!<\/p>\n<p>Working in partnership with Holywood District Community Council, the event will see a number of much loved favourites returning: the crowning of the May Queen, the Bonny Baby competition and of course the fancy dress competition, which always sees fantastic displays of effort.
