{"id":17113,"date":"2019-02-19T16:27:26","date_gmt":"2019-02-19T15:27:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=17113"},"modified":"2019-02-19T16:27:55","modified_gmt":"2019-02-19T15:27:55","slug":"big-screen-gets-the-green-light-in-newtownabbey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2019\/02\/big-screen-gets-the-green-light-in-newtownabbey\/","title":{"rendered":"Big screen gets the green light in Newtownabbey"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The Planning Committee of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has granted planning permission to Hammerson Ltd for a major new \u00a38 million development comprising a multi-screen cinema and caf\u00e9\/restaurant units on a disused brown field site at Old Church Road, Newtownabbey.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/New-cinema-at-Abbey-Centre-2.jpg.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17114\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Welcoming the decision, Committee Chairman, Councillor\nHenry Cushinan said; \u201cThis is a fantastic investment in the Borough\u2019s economy that\nwill provide an exciting new entertainment facility for Newtownabbey and create\nover 70 new full time jobs. &nbsp;The new\ndevelopment will <strong>occupy\na key location <\/strong>next to the Abbey Centre Shopping Centre,\ncreating a truly family-orientated offer for residents and visitors to the\narea. This latest investment will bring an element of trade that will extend\ninto the evening, creating a strong daytime and evening attraction for the\narea.
