{"id":17135,"date":"2019-02-27T16:05:04","date_gmt":"2019-02-27T15:05:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=17135"},"modified":"2019-02-27T16:05:05","modified_gmt":"2019-02-27T15:05:05","slug":"daoiri-farrell-at-bangor-castle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2019\/02\/daoiri-farrell-at-bangor-castle\/","title":{"rendered":"Daoir\u00ed Farrell at Bangor Castle!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><b>The next concert in the series of Music In The Chamber concerts at Bangor Castle, is taking place on Thursday 21 March and will feature the Irish folk sensation Daoir\u00ed Farrell.<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/daoiri-angel-2018-smaller-credit-Dessie-Farrell-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17136\" width=\"512\" height=\"512\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Dublin-born\ntraditional singer and bouzouki player Daoir\u00ed Farrell worked as an electrician,\nuntil a Christy Moore performance on Irish TV inspired him to down tools. The\ntrade\u2019s loss has been our gain, with Daoir\u00ed quickly becoming one of the biggest\nnames in Irish folk and one of most important singers to come out of Ireland in\nrecent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Six\nmonths after the release of \u2018True Born Irishman\u2019 in 2016 Daoir\u00ed had picked up\ntwo prestigious BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for Best Newcomer and Best Traditional\nTrack, and also performed live at the awards ceremony at London\u2019s Royal Albert\nHall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\nhas since toured Australia, Canada, Denmark and Belgium, featured at the likes\nof Festival Interceltique Lorient, Shetland Folk Festival and Cambridge Folk\nFestival, and toured alongside the Transatlantic Sessions project.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\nis a musician championed by the likes of Christy Moore and has been described\nby Donal Lunny as; \u201cone of the most important traditional singers to emerge in\nthe last decade.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just\nlast week, Daoir\u00ed launched his third album \u2018A Lifetime of Happiness.\u2019 In his\nown words <em>\u2018This is my third solo\nalbum and it feels different, somehow more grown up. That for me is partly down\nto the song choice. Each song was very carefully chosen and each is beautiful\nin its own way.
