This Bank\nHoliday weekend Ards Arts Centre and Conway Square, Newtownards will be\nanimated with puppets in all shapes and sizes when the annual Ards Puppet\nFestival returns to the town!<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Over the\ntwo days, Sunday 26 and Monday 27 May, the jam-packed programme will offer\nscheduled shows, street theatre, walkabouts and craft workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Conway\nSquare programme of activities which runs from 12noon to 4pm<\/strong> each day, includes colourful street-theatre, whacky walkabouts\nand puppet-making workshops. Watch the \u2018Billy Goats Gruff\u2019 as they tussle with\nthe grumpy troll, queue up at the \u2018Rat Choc Chip\u2019 ice-cream van and get more\nthan you\u2019ve bargained for, enjoy a \u2018Teddy Bears Picnic\u2019 or traditional \u2018Punch\nand Judy\u2019. More creative visitors can get stuck into puppet-making at the free\ninteractive workshops where children can build their very own puppets, with\nhelp from professional artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the\nprogramme highlights will be performances by the Budapest Marionettes.\nPerforming for the first time in Northern Ireland, Bence Sarkadi is a Hungarian\nmarionette artist \/ puppeteer who travels the globe, entertaining crowds with\nhis award-winning, one-man show. Prepare to be amazed as Bence\u2019s mastery brings\nhis puppets to life. All Conway Square performances are FREE <\/strong>of charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lyngo\nTheatre bring their productions of Tom Thumb and Jack and the Beanstalk to the\nfestival where cBeebies\u2019 Patrick Lynch will work his magic, retelling these\nclassic tales in the magical Lyngo way.  Clydebuilt\nTheatre will make a welcome return to the festival with their adorable \u2018Lost\nBear\u2019 production and the much-loved Banyan Theatre will also return with their\nenchanting show \u2018The Hedgehog Prince\u2019. All scheduled shows cost \u00a33 per ticket,\nadvanced booking is required. Please note the 11.30am performance of Jack and\nthe Beanstalk on Sunday is now sold out but there are tickets remaining for the\nother shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
