Now in its 18<\/strong><sup><strong>th<\/strong><\/sup><strong> year, this thriving annual event brings together local artists and makers to demonstrate their skills and showcase their work<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/press-5-1024x669.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17481\" width=\"512\" height=\"335\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Beginning on Friday 2 August 2019 and running throughout the month, Creative\nPeninsula, organised by Ards and North Down Borough Council, offers free and\nbookable opportunities for people of all ages and levels of experience to see,\nlearn about and even \u2018try their hand\u2019 at a host of different art and craft\nforms practiced in the local area.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Featuring, open studios, creative\ntours, exhibitions, workshops, demonstrations and more, Creative Peninsula is\nan ideal way to experience what the local art and craft industries have to\noffer throughout the beautiful and picturesque Ards and North Down Borough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The programme kicks-off on\nFriday 2 August with \u2018Creative Peninsula in the Square\u2019 at Conway Square in\nNewtownards.&nbsp; For one day only the space will be transformed into a tented\narts and crafts village with more than 30 artists and makers displaying and\nselling their work.&nbsp; Free demonstrations including glass engraving, wood\nturning, felting, printing, ceramics and more will run throughout the day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mayor of Ards and North\nDown, Alderman Bill Keery said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith over 20,000 attendees\neach year, Creative Peninsula has become one of the most inspirational,\neducational and vocational arts festivals attracting people from all corners of\nNorthern Ireland. Ards and North Down is very fortunate to have one of the\nlargest concentrations of artists and makers living and working here and\nunsurprisingly the area has a thriving creative industry.
