{"id":17529,"date":"2019-07-03T09:33:26","date_gmt":"2019-07-03T08:33:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=17529"},"modified":"2019-07-03T09:33:27","modified_gmt":"2019-07-03T08:33:27","slug":"the-iconic-claret-jugs-tour-across-the-causeway-coast-and-glens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2019\/07\/the-iconic-claret-jugs-tour-across-the-causeway-coast-and-glens\/","title":{"rendered":"The iconic Claret Jug\u2019s tour across the Causeway Coast and Glens"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The Claret Jug is the shining star of a new short film showcasing the beautiful Causeway Coastal and Glens from land, air and sea. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/press-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17530\" width=\"512\" height=\"342\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The iconic trophy, which golfing legends will\ncontend for at The Open in July, can be seen visiting the most magnificent beaches\nour shoreline has to offer, standing tall on cliff tops, looking majestic by\nwaterfalls and taking a trip to the wild and beautiful Rathlin Island. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The film follows the Claret Jug\u2019s journey\nthrough dramatic landscapes, to pretty harbours and around charming villages\nwhich nestle in nooks and crannies across the breath-taking Causeway Coast and\nGlens. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The trophy can also be seen taking centre\nstage during performances by both The Dominic Graham School of Irish Dance and\nBritain\u2019s Got Talent Stars Innova in Portrush\u2019s historic Arcadia building. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It finally comes to rest at this year\u2019s host\nvenue, Royal Portrush Golf Club, where John Bamber, Chairman of the Royal\nPortrush Golf Club\u2019s Open Championship Organising Committee, is seen welcoming\nand admiring the trophy with pride. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heidi Clarke, Project Manager for The Open at\nCauseway Coast and Glens Borough Council, says, \u201cI was thrilled when The\nR&amp;A agreed to let the Claret Jug go on an epic adventure around the\nCauseway Coast and Glens area.&nbsp; It is a one off opportunity to promote our\nhidden gems with The Open and the iconic Claret Jug having such a worldwide\naudience.&nbsp; Onlookers long the way couldn\u2019t believe their eyes when they\nsaw the Claret Jug unveiled at each location and the careful handling of it by\nappointed persons.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heidi continues, \u201cI hope by highlighting these\nbeauty spots, we will inspire both locals and those from all corners of\nthe&nbsp; world to explore and be invigorated by the natural beauty on offer\nand be charmed by the warmth of welcome to be received.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough\nCouncil Councillor Sean Bateson said: \u201cThe Claret Jug\u2019s journey across the\nCauseway Coast and Glens once again proves how incredibly lucky we are to live\nand work in such a breath-taking area. The unrivalled coastlines alongside the\nstunning scenery captured throughout the film will undoubtedly encourage\nvisitors from all over the world to see it for themselves, not only now but for\nmany years to come.
