Make a day of it and discover the top\nten activities to do at Hillsborough Castle and Gardens this summer! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Join one of\nthe new interactive Family Tours of the sumptuous State Rooms and discover the\nweird and wonderful things some of our guests have left behind <\/li>
  2. Pick up\nsome \u2018bugnoculars\u2019, a magnifying glass and an identification kit from the Garden\nExplorer\u2019s cart and go hunting for mini beasties in the gorgeous gardens, with\nover 100 acres to explore!<\/li>
  3. Take a\ngruesome look at history as you meet the Gorgeous Georgians and Vile Victorians\nwith the amazing Horrible Histories: Live On Stage performed in the gardens (10\n\u2013 14 August 2019).<\/li>
  4.   Travel to\nthe past and meet the 3rd Marquess of Downshire as he entertains you with tales\nof Ireland\u2019s mythological heroes in the Castle\u2019s four-acre walled garden. <\/li>
  5. Let your\ncreative senses run wild and pick up a gardener\u2019s notebook in the Summer House\nto record what you see and smell during your visit. Can you spot the swans,\nkingfishers and other wildlife near the beautiful lake?      <\/li>
  6. Immerse\nyourself in Hillsborough Castle\u2019s history with fascinating object handling\nsessions. From Georgian shoes to Victorian spinning tops, what curious items will\nyou discover in the Castle\u2019s handling collection? <\/li>
  7.  Capture a family photo from Lady Alice\u2019s\nTemple and enjoy the stunning views of the gardens and if you\u2019re lucky   spot\notters in the pond below!<\/li>
  8. Head to the ice\nhouse and discover how the Hill family managed to trap winter in a cave all\nyear round! From Saturday 24 August \u2013 Monday 26 August cool off and have a go\nat making your very own Georgian ice cream! <\/li>
  9. Get crafty\nand take a bit of Hillsborough Castle home with drop-in summer make and take\nsessions, including kite making on selected dates.<\/li>

    Hillsborough\nCastle and Gardens has been completely transformed by independent charity\nHistoric Royal Palaces after five years and a \u00a324 million investment \u2013\nsupported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and other generous donors.\nGreeting visitors upon arrival is a new visitor centre complete with caf\u00e9 and\nshop.
