Armagh, Muldoon has won a Pulitzer Prize for Poetry and been described as \u2018the\nmost significant English-language poet born since the Second World War\u2019 (Times\nLiterary Supplement). His show, \u2018Muldoon\u2019s Picnic\u2019, <a>an\nomnium-gatherum of poetry, prose and musi<\/a>c, refers to a popular\n19th-century New York vaudeville show, which inspired the New York based Muldoon\nto begin hosting these carefully blended evenings of literature and music back\nin 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each show on the tour\nhas a bespoke mix of artists from the worlds of music and literature. The final\nnight of the tour takes place at the MAC, with the \u2018Queen of Celtic Music\u2019, <strong>Moya\nBrennan<\/strong>, virtuoso harpist, <strong>Cormac de Barra<\/strong>, Irish novelist and screenwriter,\n<strong>John Banville<\/strong> and West Cork poet, <strong>Leanne O\u2019Sullivan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Muldoon will also be\njoined by house band, Rogue Oliphant &#8211; a collective of musicians and composers,\nincluding <strong>Chris Harford<\/strong> (Three Colors, Band of Changes), <strong>Cait\nO\u2019Riordan<\/strong> (The Pogues), <strong>David Mansfield<\/strong> (Bob Dylan, The Alpha Band)\nand <strong>Ray Kubian<\/strong> (Electric Six, Chris Forsyth).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Paul Muldoon\ndescribes the show as a direct response to an ancient impulse to perform, to\nshare and to make one\u2019s own amusement. <strong>He states: \u201c<\/strong>It\u2019s one of our most\nbasic instincts; to listen to a song, listen to a poem.
