Following the success of the first six editions, the City of Derry International Choir Festival is back with a bang this autumn from 23-27 October, announcing an impressive and diverse line-up of participating choirs from across Europe and South America. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Organisers look forward to welcoming more than 50 choirs to the city to take part in competitions, concerts, performances and workshops across the 5-day event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s festival will also include a\njam-packed schedule of non-competitive performances by more than 40 local\nchoirs and singing groups as part of the Every Voice Community Programme, in\npartnership with Derry choir Allegri, resulting in a total of nearly 100\nparticipating choirs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The highlight of the weekend will be the\nInternational Competition, to be held on Saturday 26 October in St. Columb\u2019s\nHall. Eight choirs, representing eight countries, will compete for the\nprestigious \u201cOak Tree of Derry\u201d trophy and a cash prize of \u00a32,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The competitors are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.     Coral\nBras\u00edlia, Brazil<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.     Voices\nof Hope, England<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.     New\nDublin Voices, Ireland<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.     Coro\nGiovanile Regionale del Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5.     St.\nZlata Meglenska Female Chamber Choir, North Macedonia<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6.     Solheimkoret,\nNorway<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7.     Coro\nFeminino CVS, Portugal<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8.     Cordydd,\nWales<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adjudicating all competitions will be a\npanel of distinguished choral directors with a wealth of experience as\ninternational jurors. The festival welcomes the return of Josep Vila I Casa\u00f1as,\none of the best-known choral conductors in Catalonia and Spain, for his third\nyear leading the team as Chair of the adjudicating panel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Artistic Director of the festival, D\u00f3nal\nDoherty, commented on this year\u2019s line-up, \u201cWe’re delighted to announce yet\nanother exciting and outstanding line-up of choirs for this year’s festival.\nDerry’s growing reputation as the City of Song continues to serve as a magnet\nto some of the very best choirs in the world. The five-day festival will once\nagain bring the whole of the North West alive for all music lovers – \nPortrush for the golf, Derry for the singing!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
