Creative Peninsula – Northern Ireland\u2019s premier celebration of Art and Craft will begin with a showcase of the boroughs most talented artists and makers at Creative Peninsula in the Square this Friday (2 August 2019).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For one day only Conway\nSquare in Newtownards will be transformed into a creative hub with more than 30\nartists and makers displaying and selling their work and talking about what\ninspires them.  Free demonstrations including glass engraving, wood\nturning, painting, felting, printing, drawing, ceramics and much more will run\nthroughout the day. So why not come along and join them in our celebration of\ncreativity!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking place throughout August, the thriving celebration,\nwhich is now in its 18th year, offers a range of free and bookable\nopportunities for people of all ages and levels of experience to see, learn\nabout and even \u2018try their hand\u2019 at some of the many art and craft forms that\nare practiced in the local area.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other\nhighlights include;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alfresco\nAfternoons<\/strong>,\nSaturday 3 and Sunday 4 August, 12noon \u2013 4pm (free) \u2013 be inspired with our\nAlfresco Art programme featuring afternoon demonstrations. The beautiful\nlocation of the Courtyard at North Down Museum is the backdrop for two\nafternoons of hand-crafted wood and art and craft demonstrations in many\nmediums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drink and Draw<\/strong>, Thursday 8 August,\n7pm-9.30pm (\u00a35) \u2013 true to its name, this is an art class for both seasoned\nscribblers and clueless beginners \u2013 but in an unconventional setting with a\nglass of your favourite tipple.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ards Arts Centre Workshops<\/strong>, Saturday 3 \u2013 Saturday 10\nAugust (cost varies) \u2013 a series of engaging and interactive workshops designed\nto explore the processes used to create unique pieces of arts and craft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor of Ards and North\nDown, Alderman Bill Keery, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
