{"id":17646,"date":"2019-08-02T09:18:55","date_gmt":"2019-08-02T08:18:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=17646"},"modified":"2019-08-02T09:18:56","modified_gmt":"2019-08-02T08:18:56","slug":"a-wilde-weekend-in-enniskillen-a-trivial-festival-for-serious-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2019\/08\/a-wilde-weekend-in-enniskillen-a-trivial-festival-for-serious-people\/","title":{"rendered":"A WILDE WEEKEND in Enniskillen &#8211; a trivial festival for serious people!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4><strong>Arts Over Borders Summer Festival 2019 welcomes international cast<\/strong>.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/shutterstock_252142243-1-554x350.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17647\" width=\"277\" height=\"175\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A Wilde Weekend by Lough\nErnest, part of the Arts Over Borders series of international bio festivals, is\nset to take place from 2<sup>nd<\/sup> to 5<sup>th<\/sup> August in locations\nacross Enniskillen, including Oscar Wilde&#8217;s former school Portora Royal School\n(1864-71) to commemorate the 150th anniversary years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Created by curators Sean\nDoran and Liam Browne, the Festival will showcase a host of events based on the\nmuch loved and treasured works and life of Irish poet and playwright Oscar Wilde, including\ntalks, music, film, song, readings and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Opening A Wilde Weekend\nis renowned historian and biographer Matthew Sturgis with WILDETALK, who will\nbe discussing his recently published biography of <em>Oscar Wilde <\/em>with Carlo\nGebler<em>. <\/em>WILDETALK will also see Franny Moyle and author, biographer and\ndocumentary film maker, Cate Haste discussing their biographies respectively of\nConstance Wilde (Oscar&#8217;s wife) and Alma Mahler (Gustav Mahler&#8217;s wife). The talk\nwill be followed by WILDEMUSIC: <em>Kindertotenlieder <\/em>by Gustav Mahler, sung\nby Ruby Philogene MBE (mezzo soprano) and Maya Irgalina (piano).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The highlight of this\nyear&#8217;s three-day-festival, following its successful debut at the original Wilde\nWeekend in May 2015 and an award-winning revival in the American Academy of\nDramatic Arts in New York in 2016, will be <em>At Home with Oscar Wilde, <\/em>showcasing\nexcerpts of Wilde&#8217;s plays performed at the school he once attended, Enniskillen\nRoyal Grammar (Portora).
