View the full programme and purchase tickets at: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aspectsfestival.com\">www.aspectsfestival.com<\/a>  <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/press-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17667\" width=\"0\" height=\"0\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>As\nNorthern Ireland\u2019s longest running literature festival, now in its 28<sup>th<\/sup>\nyear, Aspects is renowned for bringing stars of the literary world to Bangor\nand is much-loved and highly regarded by authors and readers alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s programme features over 40 events\ncelebrating historical writing, poetry, crime fiction, writing workshops,\nchildren\u2019s events, politics, memoir, journalism, scriptwriting, short stories\nand exhibitions. Back by popular demand are some old friends of Aspects; Fergal\nKeane, Polly Devlin and Malachi O\u2019Doherty. The line-up also showcases local\ntalent with Moyra Donaldson, Ian Sansom, Colin Bateman and Ross Thompson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The doyenne of Irish cookery, Darina Allen will be\nlaunching her new book at Clandeboye on 5 October at a weekend of food-themed\nevents in the beautiful estate courtyard. \u2018Food for Thought\u2019 will feature\nLightning Talks on research and writing about food and drink from the\nClandeboye Reading Party \u2013 a partnership project between the Festival, Queens\nUniversity, Trinity College Dublin and Clandeboye Estate. The weekend programme\nincludes a Mad Hatter\u2019s Tea Party with Lady Dufferin, a talk from florist to\nroyalty Shane Connolly and Women Aloud NI will share its thoughts on food with\nculinary inspired poetry. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Young readers won\u2019t be\ndisappointed either with a full programme of creative events designed to\ninspire imaginations. From Sensory Story experiences, Comic Book Creation,\nBedtime Stories, Book Inspired yoga and Tablets and Text. The Festival is\ndelighted to welcome award-winning illustrator Barry Falls who will host a\nspecial illustration workshop for 7 \u2013 12 year olds in Bangor\u2019s Carnegie Library\nwhere he will also be holding his \u2018This World Is Magic\u2019 exhibition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking about the\nprogramme The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Alderman Bill Keery said, \u201c\u201cThe\nAspects Irish Literature Festival is a wonderful event for all the family. It\nprovides everyone with an opportunity to learn and be inspired by some of our\nborough\u2019s very own literary greats. Ards and North Down Borough Council is\ndelighted to host the Festival and I hope that everyone enjoys what will be\nanother inspirational programme that might even inspire some authors of the\nfuture.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also commenting, Aspects Festival Director Patricia Hamilton said:\n\u2018<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAspects is about a broad range of writing. You don\u2019t have to be\nthe most avid reader to enjoy the programme. With interviews, food events and\nreadings, you can come along, sit back and be entertained or if you want to get\ninvolved, there is plenty on offer too. Learn more through one of the workshops\nor get involved in the Q and A\u2019s where you will see things from a writer\u2019s\nperspective.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\nFestival takes place from 20 September to 6 October.
