{"id":17673,"date":"2019-08-08T20:39:49","date_gmt":"2019-08-08T19:39:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=17673"},"modified":"2019-08-08T20:39:50","modified_gmt":"2019-08-08T19:39:50","slug":"free-transport-available-for-portavogie-seafood-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2019\/08\/free-transport-available-for-portavogie-seafood-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Free Transport Available for Portavogie Seafood Festival!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Portavogie Harbour will be a hive of activity this Saturday (10 August) as thousands of people flock to the charming coastal village for the delicious Portavogie Seafood Festival!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/press-3-1024x703.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17674\" width=\"512\" height=\"352\"\/><figcaption>&#8216;Pirate&#8217; Jessica MacDonald is looking forward to the Portavogie Seafood Festival!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Organised by Ards and North Down Borough Council in\npartnership with the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs,\nthe Festival promises to be a fun-filled, free-to-attend event where all the\nfamily can enjoy food, activities, fancy dress competitions and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Festival-goers can even take the stress out of travel by\navailing of free transport to and from the venue thanks to free bus services\navailable from Bangor and Newtownards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They will operate from late morning with stops in\nDonaghadee, Millisle, Ballywalter and Ballyhalbert on the Bangor route, as well\nas Greyabbey and Kircubbin on the Newtownards route, before leaving everyone at\nthe heart of Portavogie\u2019s festivities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What\u2019s On\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jean-Christophe Novelli, an award winning and multi-Michelin\nstarred chef, is among the star attractions and will entertain with his\ninteractive cookery demonstrations. After picking up some tips from the master,\nyou can visit the fish market to sample some of our world famous Portavogie\nprawns and maybe even treat yourself to some culinary delights at the range of\nartisan food stalls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A fancy dress competition will keep the children\nentertained, as will a fun fair, motorbike simulators, model boat displays,\nbouncy castles, a Punch and Judy show, street entertainment, live music as well\nas other children\u2019s activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watch in awe as the winner of last year\u2019s UK Strongest Man\nCompetition, Pa O\u2019Dwyer, takes part in a spectacular trawler pull while\n11-times Ulster Trials Champion, Andy Perry, heads a crew of the best riders in\nIreland as they demonstrate their skills with impressive motorcycle displays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The free-to-attend Festival takes place this Saturday (10\nAugust) from 12noon &#8211; 5pm at Portavogie Harbour.
