{"id":17731,"date":"2019-08-23T16:25:49","date_gmt":"2019-08-23T15:25:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=17731"},"modified":"2019-08-23T16:25:49","modified_gmt":"2019-08-23T15:25:49","slug":"gaming-anime-convention-q-con-promises-bigger-than-ever-for-year-26","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2019\/08\/gaming-anime-convention-q-con-promises-bigger-than-ever-for-year-26\/","title":{"rendered":"Gaming &amp; Anime Convention Q-Con Promises Bigger Than Ever For Year 26"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The biggest and best gaming and anime convention in Northern Ireland is returning to Queen\u2019s University, Belfast for its 26<sup>th<\/sup> year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With three fun-packed days from August 30 to September 1 the event is expected to attract over 6,500 attendees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Q-con-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17732\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Hosted by QUB Dragonslayers Q-Con promises a host of events, including an appearance from the creator of the classic game \u2018Doom\u2019, John Romero, who will challenge people \u201cto beat him at his own game\u201d as well as an exclusive meet and greet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With 26-years-experience under their belts the volunteer Dragonslayers know how to lay on three days of fantastic \u2013 in all senses \u2013 experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSince we began in a few rooms at Queen\u2019s with 150 people Q-Con has exploded in popularity and excitement,\u201d said Ben Harrison.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe promise we&#8217;re working hard to make sure that 2019 will be even better. From video gaming to tabletop gaming, and live text adventure in The Dark Room, through to our cosplay we are packing the weekend out.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/Q-con-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17733\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Designed by gaming and anime fans Q-Con attracts people from across the UK and Ireland and further afield, with last year seeing a five percent increase in attendees.
