{"id":17927,"date":"2019-10-03T15:09:13","date_gmt":"2019-10-03T14:09:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=17927"},"modified":"2019-10-03T15:09:32","modified_gmt":"2019-10-03T14:09:32","slug":"a-spud-load-of-fun-ahead-at-the-giants-causeway-community-open-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2019\/10\/a-spud-load-of-fun-ahead-at-the-giants-causeway-community-open-day\/","title":{"rendered":"A spud load of fun ahead at the Giants Causeway Community Open Day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>On Saturday 5<\/strong><sup><strong>th<\/strong><\/sup><strong> October the Giant\u2019s Causeway will host its second free open day this year which coincides with the Randox Northern Ireland Potato Festival on the grounds of the Causeway Hotel.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/press-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17928\" width=\"512\" height=\"342\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Open Day,\nwhich takes place from 9am to 6pm is an opportunity for the local community and\nvisitors to see for themselves the increasingly important and valuable work the\nNational Trust do at the UNESCO World Heritage Site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following a\nbusy summer and a season of conservation projects promoting wildlife at the\nCauseway Coast, the National Trust want to celebrate the commitment and passion\nof the staff, rangers and volunteers by hosting a fun-filled weekend for all. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To kick off\nthe celebrations there will also be a Community Open Evening on Friday 4<sup>th<\/sup>\nOctober at the Causeway Hotel. Visitors can start the weekend in style with\ncomplimentary nibbles, drinks and entertainment&nbsp;from 7 to 9pm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ciara\nMcClements, Visitor Experience Manager at the Giant\u2019s Causeway commented, \u201cThe\nOpen Day will have something for everyone. Visitors and the local community are\nwelcome to enjoy the full Visitor Experience free of charge, take a guided tour\nwith one of the award-winning tour guides or pick up an audio guide and explore\nat your own pace learning about the geology, myths and legends of the Giant\u2019s\nCauseway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe weekend\nalso allows us to showcase our unique visitor offering and provide visitors\nfrom near and far the chance to experience all that the Giant\u2019s Causeway has to\noffer. Over the past eight years we have welcomed over 30,000 people to our\nOpen Days and we hope that this year will see even more visitors enjoying the\noutstanding beauty and stunning scenery that the stones has to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPeople of\nall ages can take part in arts and crafts sessions, face painting and\ncelebrations galore creating memories at our special place. We are also\ndelighted to host the Randox Northern Ireland Potato Festival once again on the\ngrounds of the Causeway Hotel celebrating all aspects of the local potato\nindustry!\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Final\nadmission to the Community Open day is 5pm, with the Visitor Centre closing at\n6pm. There will also be a free Park &amp; Ride from Bushmills to the Giant\u2019s\nCauseway.
