{"id":1820,"date":"2010-08-10T13:46:57","date_gmt":"2010-08-10T12:46:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.whatsonni.com\/blog\/?p=1820"},"modified":"2010-08-10T14:31:46","modified_gmt":"2010-08-10T13:31:46","slug":"winning-ni-bands-battle-for-spot-at-regional-our-thursdays%e2%80%99-showcase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2010\/08\/winning-ni-bands-battle-for-spot-at-regional-our-thursdays%e2%80%99-showcase\/","title":{"rendered":"WINNING NI BANDS BATTLE FOR SPOT AT REGIONAL OUR THURSDAYS\u2019 SHOWCASE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over the past three weeks, 600 emerging Irish acts have been performing in pubs around the country at the Guinness \u2018Our Thursdays\u2019 pub showcases, for the incredible opportunity to share the stage with Snow Patrol and other amazing artists of the moment, as part of the Arthur\u2019s Day line up on September 23<sup>rd<\/sup>.playing live with<\/p>\n<p>Northern Irish music fans voted, via text, for their favourite bands that performed at the various pub showcases over the last three Thursdays (22<sup>nd<\/sup> and 29<sup>th<\/sup> July and 5<sup>th<\/sup> August). The three winning bands will now go up against each other in pubs on the fourth and final night (this Thursday 12<sup>th<\/sup> August) to be in with a chance of securing a place on the official Arthur\u2019s Day line up and also at one of the regional showcase events taking place in Belfast, Cork, Galway and Dublin on 26<sup>th<\/sup> August.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1829\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1829\" style=\"width: 361px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.whatsonni.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/logues21.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1829\" title=\"logues2\" src=\"http:\/\/www.whatsonni.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/logues21.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"361\" height=\"244\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1829\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Logues<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The \u2018Our Thursdays\u2019 pub showcase finals will kick off at 9pm this Thursday in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Auntie Annie\u2019s, Belfast<\/li>\n<li>The Errigle Inn, Belfast<\/li>\n<li>Lavery\u2019s, Belfast<\/li>\n<li>McHugh\u2019s Bar, Belfast<\/li>\n<li>The Empire, Belfast<\/li>\n<li>The Limelight, Belfast<\/li>\n<li>Bellini\u2019s, Newry<\/li>\n<li>The Courthouse Bar, Lurgan<\/li>\n<li>Downey\u2019s Bar, Derry\/Londonderry<\/li>\n<li>The Strand Bar,      Derry\/Londonderry<\/li>\n<li>The Ivy Bar, Newtownards<\/li>\n<li>The Joymount Arms,      Carrickfergus<\/li>\n<li>Sally O\u2019Brien\u2019s, Omagh<\/li>\n<li>The Silver Dollar \/ Madden\u2019s,      Antrim<\/li>\n<li>The Wild Duck, Portglenone,      Ballymena<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pub customers will witness 39 acts performing free of charge across all these pub venues. (*See list of bands below).<\/p>\n<p>The lucky bands selected by the public in each pub will become the official Arthur\u2019s Day act set to perform in that pub on 23<sup>rd<\/sup> September. What\u2019s more a judging panel comprised of music industry experts and Snow Patrol will choose 24 bands from the list of pub showcase final winning acts that will perform at the regional showcases.<\/p>\n<p>Four regional showcases featuring all 24 shortlisted bands will take place on 26th August at music venues in Belfast, Galway, Cork and Dublin.\u00a0 In Belfast, The Empire will host a regional showcase music event where six bands will battle it out for a place in the national showcase.\u00a0 At that stage, four lucky bands from the four music events will be selected to perform at the national showcase in Belfast on 9<sup>th<\/sup> September.<\/p>\n<p>Three acts will be chosen at this final by members of the judging panel and Snow Patrol to perform on 23<sup>rd<\/sup> September at the Arthur\u2019s Day celebrations in Galway, Cork and Dublin.
