Here are ten exciting things taking place 3 – 9 February\n2020. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.      \nunder-the-hawthorn-tree<\/a> Under the Hawthorn\nTree <\/strong>Belfast, 30 January \u2013 9 February. The acclaimed production Under the\nHawthorn Tree is returning to Belfast in a presentation by the award-winning\nchildren’s theatre company, Cahoots NI and the MAC, featuring a star-studded\ncast including Frankie McCafferty and Julia Dearden. Based on the\ninternationally acclaimed book by award-winning author Marita Conlon-McKenna\nUnder the Hawthorn Tree follows the journey of three brave siblings as they\nfight for survival during the Potato Famine in Ireland, 1845.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2.      \nKirkistown-Point-to-Point<\/a> Kirkistown Point to\nPoint<\/strong> Newtownards, 8 February. Point-to-point is the perfect day out for\nall the family where you can witness the future stars of the racing industry\nmake their introduction into competitive racing. Unlike most racecourses,\nspectators can stand beside one of the fences and feel the power of the horses\nas they jump a fence in full flight. The track is also the perfect location for\na picnic from the boot of your car where you can enjoy the action with your\nfriends and family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.      \nNo-Other-Word-For-It<\/a> No Other Word for it<\/strong>\nDerry~Londonderry, 26 January \u2013 9 February. An immersive installation combining\nmusic, sculpture, light, text and video mapping by Ail\u00eds N\u00ed R\u00edain.  \nAil\u00eds N\u00ed R\u00edain is an Irish contemporary classical composer and published writer\nfor stage who aims to produce work that challenges, provokes and engages. A\nregular collaborator with artists in other art-forms, her artistic interests\nare diverse and combined with an unwavering desire to push and develop her\nartistic practice through each new project or commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4.      \nBelfast-Gin-School<\/a> Belfast Gin School <\/strong>Belfast,\n25 January \u2013 28 March. Through experiential learning, with master distiller,\nIan, you will have the opportunity to see gin being distilled, learn about\nflavour combinations and make your own. Each participant will receive a goodie bag\ncontaining their own miniature bottle of gin to serve with their tonic of\nchoice at home. A great afternoon with gin and cupcakes, what\u2019s not to love?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5.      \nWinter-Bird-Watching-Birds-on-the-Bann<\/a> Winter\nBird Watching<\/strong> Coleraine, 9 February. It’s the start of a new year so why\nnot get out and enjoy a wildlife watching boat trip with Causeway Lass. Enjoy a\nriver trip experience on board Causeway Lass whilst exploring the Bann estuary.\nWitness wildlife and scenery during this two hour trip with their eagle eyed\nguide. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

6.      \nParanormal-Investigation<\/a> Paranormal\nInvestigation<\/strong> Belfast, 18 January \u2013 31 March. On this four hour\ninvestigation you will be taken to the most active areas in the Gaol and will\nbe given the chance to use equipment as used by experts while conducting your\nvery own ghost hunt. The areas you will visit will include the reception, the\ncondemned man\u2019s cell, execution chamber, the tunnel and the flogging room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7.      \nSt-Columbs-School-of-Music-Official-Opening<\/a> St\nColumb\u2019s School of Music Official Opening <\/strong>Derry~Londonderry, 8 February.\nThe Priests, Irish tenor and folk singer George Hutton, local concert pianist\nRuth McGinley and jazz aficionados Scott Flanigan and Cathal Roche will be\namong the glittering line-up of performers at the official launch of St\nColumb\u2019s School of Music which will be compered by RTE television and radio\npersonality, Mr Bryan Dobson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

8.      \nCakebread-Wine-Dinner<\/a> Cakebread and Wine\nDinner<\/strong> Belfast, 4 February. Berts Jazz Bar invites you to their unique\nCakebread Wine Dinner. On the island for the first time, the team from the\nCakebread Vineyard in California will be hosting a delightful evening, serving\nup a sumptuous five course dinner along with wine pairings hosted by Bruce\nCakebread.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

9.      \nWalled-City-400<\/a> Walled City 400<\/strong>\nDerry~Londonderry, 18 February 2019 to 31 March 2020. Last year marked the\n400th anniversary of the completion of the Derry Walls. Built from 1613-1619,\nthe Walls are the largest ancient monument in Northern Ireland, the only\nremaining Walled City in Ireland and one of the finest examples of Walled\nCities in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10.  \nLife-Cycles-by-Lorna-Smyth<\/a> Life Cycle by Lorna\nSmyth<\/strong> Enniskillen, 2 December 2019 \u2013 18 April 2020. This showcase of new\nworks, curated by renowned artist Lorna Smyth, encompasses the four seasons in\none year. Lorna’s art emphasises the world around us, highlights her love of\nnature and captures a sense of belonging regardless of the place name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
