And, if I\u2019m honest, I probably don\u2019t have the answer you want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, as controversial as my opinion might be, despite all the research I\u2019ve done I can\u2019t come up with a more plausible answer to the question \u201cwhat is a successful blog post?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As far as I\u2019m concerned \u2013 a successful blog post is one that\u2019s published. At the end of the day, when so much work has gone into thinking, researching, developing, writing and publishing a blog it would be insane not to acknowledge that as an achievement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Not all about the stats<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In my experience, it\u2019s not the volume of people that read a blog that\u2019s important, it\u2019s the quality, influence and position of purchasing power of the reader that\u2019s important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If, for example, you\u2019re&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/contentclub.excaliburpress.co.uk\/2018\/11\/22\/writing-blog-post-quick-easy-top-tips\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">writing a blog<\/a>&nbsp;about your own personal development it only takes one person to be positively impacted by that blog for you to have made a difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201csocial media gurus\u201d and modern wave of \u201cdigital marketing experts\u201d might dazzle us with reach, views, and even linger time metrics but we have to be careful not to be sucked into the black hole of vanity metrics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whilst there\u2019s a place for them in any communications,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/contentclub.excaliburpress.co.uk\/2019\/03\/01\/23-ways-to-win-at-press-publicity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">publicity<\/a>, PR and marketing strategy they certainly should be hailed as the champion if KPI\u2019s (Key Performance Indicators).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>What do you want?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the easiest ways to determine the \u201csuccess\u201d of a blog post is knowing what you wanted it to do in the first place. Having a clear purpose and goal and concise call to action meant it will be much easier to consider the \u201csuccess\u201d because you\u2019ve set out the expectations in the first place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course, knowing what you want from a blog post can, at times, be the most difficult part of the process, especially if it\u2019s for business purposes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Time and resources<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Another consideration is the time and resources&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/contentclub.excaliburpress.co.uk\/2018\/11\/22\/writing-blog-post-quick-easy-top-tips\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">writing a blog post<\/a>&nbsp;is taking. If you find you\u2019re spending hours on something that isn\u2019t converting in the manner you want it to, it might be time to re-think your strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although blogging is an incredibly powerful&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/contentclub.excaliburpress.co.uk\/2019\/02\/24\/reaping-benefits-content-creating-probably-not\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">content marketing<\/a>&nbsp;tool for businesses and influencers it\u2019s vital that this single marketing activity doesn\u2019t take your focus away from other key elements of your strategy and plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be clear, I\u2019m a massive fan of blogging as a very powerful content marketing and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/contentclub.excaliburpress.co.uk\/2018\/11\/13\/seo-art-getting-found-google\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SEO<\/a>&nbsp;(Search Engine Optimisation) tool.
