{"id":18932,"date":"2020-09-07T17:22:58","date_gmt":"2020-09-07T16:22:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=18932"},"modified":"2020-09-07T17:24:56","modified_gmt":"2020-09-07T16:24:56","slug":"guest-artists-virtual-choirs-and-familiar-faces-at-the-2020-city-of-derry-international-choir-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2020\/09\/guest-artists-virtual-choirs-and-familiar-faces-at-the-2020-city-of-derry-international-choir-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Guest artists, virtual choirs and familiar faces at the 2020 City of Derry International Choir Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>The City of Derry International Choir Festival recently announced exciting plans for an online edition this October, 21-25, featuring an exclusive concert by guest artists Tenebrae, a massed sing of Danny Boy conducted by world-renowned composer\/conductor Bob Chilcott, and a virtual Choral Trail featuring performances from choirs across the globe.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/press-2-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18934\" width=\"458\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the already top-quality programme, the festival will include a second exclusive filmed concert by leading Irish a cappella ensemble Ard\u00fa. Founded by Derry man Ciar\u00e1n Kelly and based in Dublin, the award-winning group specialize&nbsp;in arranging well-known popular music for six voices, creating funky beats, rhythms, melody and harmony with only their voices. The performance will take place in the spectacular surroundings of The Glassworks, Derry, and will be free to view on the festival\u2019s social media channels and website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, festival organisers have announced a school choir project as part of their programme of events this autumn, featuring 10 post-primary schools from Derry, Strabane, Omagh and Donegal.
