{"id":19174,"date":"2021-03-16T17:30:48","date_gmt":"2021-03-16T16:30:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=19174"},"modified":"2021-03-16T17:30:49","modified_gmt":"2021-03-16T16:30:49","slug":"broadcast-channels-unveiled-for-st-patricks-day-live-from-sailortown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2021\/03\/broadcast-channels-unveiled-for-st-patricks-day-live-from-sailortown\/","title":{"rendered":"Broadcast Channels Unveiled For St Patrick&#8217;s Day Live From Sailortown"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Sailortown_0787-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19175\" \/><figcaption>Photoshoot ahead of the St Patrick&#8217;s Day Live online event presented by Sailortown Regeneration at St Joseph&#8217;s Belfast on March 17th 2021.\nTerry McKeown, project manager, Sailortown Regeneration \n\nPhoto by Francine Montgomery \/ Excalibur Press\nFor more information contact Tina Calder, Excalibur Press, 07305354209 or tina@excaliburpress.co.uk<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sailortown\u2019s St Patricks\u2019 Day show will be live streamed across eight online platforms, from Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and NVTV, from 2pm to 9pm from St Joseph\u2019s Chapel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a packed schedule of music, dance and art it represents a unique to celebrate the Patron Saint as well pay tribute to the work to restore St Joseph\u2019s as a community hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Project manager for Sailortown Regeneration, Terry McKeown said it was important that they were able to share this landmark occasion for Sailortown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted to have such a stellar line-up that we can broadcast to friends, near and far\u201d Terry said.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe years of campaigning and hard work to open St Joseph\u2019s deserve to be celebrated and we can promise that it will be a packed day that will have you not wanting to miss a minute.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Several performances will be live broadcasted from St Joseph\u2019s across two stages and all the acts will be introduced by U105 presenter and DJ, Johnny Hero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seamus Lavery of opening act, Dalriada Folk said: \u201cAlthough I was not born in Sailortown I have a long association with St Joseph\u2019s through Conradh na Gaelidhge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn more recent times I have been a supporter of the Save St Joseph\u2019s campaign, playing with the band at fundraisers and a few years ago we played in the church when it was reopened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A feature during the day will be the presentation of a video on Sailortown, recounting the history, and the battles to win the lease when the church was deconsecrated through to the ongoing work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seamus O&#8217;Neill, director of Belfast City Blues Festival said: &#8220;As I was born and bred in Fleet Street Sailortown, I am a million per cent behind this event and everything Terry McKeown and her team and friends are actively doing to bring Sailortown back to what it once was, a brilliant, vibrant and positive community hub in Belfast City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Belfast City Blues Festival is looking forward to working with Sailortown Regeneration.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Susan Picken, director of Cathedral Quarter Trust and Culture Night Belfast said: &#8220;Fantastic to see the great online programme our friends and \u2019neighbours\u2019 Sailortown Regeneration are putting on for St Patrick\u2019s Day &#8211; can\u2019t wait.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Simon Wood, Chairperson, Northern Visions TV said: \u201cWe are delighted to be able to support the Sailortown community and former residents on St. Patrick&#8217;s Day, they say that sometimes you will never know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory, let us hope that the enthusiasm of those intent on saving what is left of this community brings a brighter future.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Singer songwriters Amanda St John and Anthony Toner will be among the line-up. Anthony, who released his song Sailortown in 2008, said: \u201cSt Joseph\u2019s is a beautiful building, the atmosphere of churches is always welcoming to musicians, I think \u2013 there\u2019s a sense of the music rising up into the rafters that you don\u2019t get in more traditional venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe history of that part of the city adds another layer of importance to the place, and the exciting plans for its regeneration make it feel multi-layered, the past and the future of Sailortown collide right here, in this space, right now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Singer songwriter, Ludwig O\u2019Neill, is no stranger to Sailortown having campaigned to keep the Rotterdam and Pat\u2019s Bar from development, will bring his dark, realistic folk and blues tunes to the party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said: \u201cI am very pleased to have been included in this St Patrick\u2019s Day event almost a year since I played there before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSailortown is in my blood, it\u2019s the heartbeat of North Belfast and over the years has been Belfast\u2019s conduit to the rest of the world. St Joseph\u2019s chapel has long been the spiritual hub of that area.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year\u2019s St Patrick\u2019s Day event is being funded by Intercom, The Executive Office and The Community Relations Council.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Terry said it\u2019s a big turning point in the history of the chapel.
