{"id":19240,"date":"2021-04-28T14:25:17","date_gmt":"2021-04-28T13:25:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=19240"},"modified":"2021-04-28T14:25:17","modified_gmt":"2021-04-28T13:25:17","slug":"sign-up-now-for-causeway-coast-and-glens-borough-councils-green-dog-walkers-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2021\/04\/sign-up-now-for-causeway-coast-and-glens-borough-councils-green-dog-walkers-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"Sign up now for Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council\u2019s Green Dog Walkers Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4>Dog owners can now sign up for Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council\u2019s Green Dog Walkers Scheme as part of its campaign against dog fouling.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/press-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19241\" width=\"464\" height=\"303\"\/><figcaption>The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Alderman Mark Fielding has helped to launch the Green Dog Walker Scheme alongside the Mayoress Mrs Phyllis Fielding, Councillor Margaret Anne McKillop and Ben Callan, Enforcement Officer (with dog Mayze)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The national initiative aims to tackle the ongoing anti-social problem by encouraging and supporting\u00a0responsible dog ownership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scheme is free to sign up to and all participants will receive a Green Dog Walkers pack which includes branded dog leads, collars and poo bags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also encouraged dog owners to act as ambassadors by sharing spare poo bags with people who might need one for their pet when out and about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Welcoming the scheme, the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Alderman Mark Feilding said: \u201cI am pleased to launch this new initiative as part of Council\u2019s commitment to addressing the problem of dog fouling which exists across the Borough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThrough its practical assistance and awareness-raising I hope we can start to see improvements. We are calling on our local dog owners to work in partnership with us to protect both our environment and our communities from this hazardous and anti-social behaviour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI would like to thank all our responsible dog owners who already play their part by cleaning up after their dog and I would encourage people to pledge their support to the Green Dog Walker Scheme by signing up now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you would like to become a Green Dog Walker please email your name and address to&nbsp;<a href=\"mailto:greendogwalker@causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk?subject=Green%20Dog%20Walkers%20Scheme\"><strong>greendogwalker@causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All those who sign up will receive a Green Dog Walker collar and lead for each licenced dog they own along with a keyring torch and approximately 50 branded poo bags.
