Maiden Voyage Dance is inviting 3\u20136-year-olds and their grown-ups to join them on a \u2018suit safari\u2019 in their new show \u2018MORF\u2019, which will premiere at The MAC as part of Belfast Children\u2019s Festival on 5 – 6 March.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exploring the magical in the everyday, \u2018MORF\u2019 sees two dancers use ordinary suit jackets to create familiar animals – including a jellyfish, an elephant, a bird, and a worm – as young audiences travel with them to a \u2018fabric fantasy\u2019 world of clouds, mountains, volcanos and castles. Nothing stays the same for long as what is there in one second is gone and transformed into something new the next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nicola Curry<\/strong>, Artistic Director ofMaiden Voyage Dance said: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA key part of encouraging creativity in young children is to share how to make something magical out of nothing. \u2018MORF\u2019 is a playful new dance show which embraces change with gentle, ever-shifting movement and rhythm, celebrating the joy of play, transformation and imagination.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

‘MORF\u2019 marks Maiden Voyage Dance’s welcome return to Belfast Children\u2019s Festival after the company’s sell-out run with ‘Turnabout’ at last year\u2019s event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s show has been created by choreographer David Ogle <\/strong>with performers Adam Ashford<\/strong> and Maeve McGreevy<\/strong>, lighting designer Ciaran Bagnall<\/strong>, costume and set designer Diana Ennis<\/strong> and composer Brian Irvine<\/strong>. \u2018MORF\u2019 is commissioned and produced by Maiden Voyage Dance<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking forward to \u2019MORF\u2019, Caoileann Curry-Thompson<\/strong>, Acting Head of Drama and Dance, Arts Council of Northern Ireland, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Arts Council is very excited to welcome this new work from Maiden Voyage, who lead the field in innovative contemporary dance experiences for the whole family here in Northern Ireland. The inherent joyousness and playfulness of \u2018MORF\u2019 will be particularly impactful as we return to sharing live dance together.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I can think of nothing better than being whisked off on a journey of imagination and movement by this fantastic team of creatives, and to be given permission once again to dream and wonder and dare to look at things differently. I\u2019d encourage people to get out and experience the exhilarating, transformative joy of live dance for themselves with \u2018MORF\u2019.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maiden Voyage Dance is principally funded by Arts Council of Northern Ireland and funded by Belfast City Council. \u2018MORF\u2019 is supported by Ulster Presents at Ulster University.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
