{"id":23626,"date":"2025-01-21T11:38:17","date_gmt":"2025-01-21T10:38:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=23626"},"modified":"2025-01-21T11:42:46","modified_gmt":"2025-01-21T10:42:46","slug":"23626","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2025\/01\/23626\/","title":{"rendered":"Steinbeck Festival 2025: Celebrating the spirit of storytelling and humanity in Limavady"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Roe Valley Arts &amp; Cultural Centre is thrilled to once again partner with the Steinbeck Festival for its 7th year, offering an exciting and diverse programme that celebrates and explores the legacy of John Steinbeck.<\/h4>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>From music and spoken word to theatre, storytelling, and art, this year\u2019s festival promises to bring his timeless works to life in fresh and engaging ways.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-23629\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Muireann-Bradley-photo-credit-Eilis-Boland-Lonesome-Highway-1-804x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"509\" \/>The festival, celebrating John Steinbeck\u2019s notable connection to Limavady, begins with one of Northern Ireland\u2019s finest interviewers,\u00a0<strong>Mark Carruthers, in conversation with\u00a0award-winning journalist and author Fergal Keane<\/strong>\u00a0on Friday 7th February. Tickets cost \u00a312 for what is sure to be an insightful and poignant event.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The following evening, Saturday 8th February, come along and dance the night away as the\u00a0<strong>Limavady Big Band<\/strong>\u00a0play some stomping tunes as well as sharing American classics, a brilliant night out!<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following the success of the 2024 event, this year&#8217;s programme will once again spotlight an evening with local storytellers and poets. A celebration of the area\u2019s creative talent, the event will feature heartfelt performances, including debut readings from emerging voices.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Ciar\u00e1n McQuillan<\/strong>\u00a0said: \u201cI am delighted to see the Steinbeck Festival return to Limavady again this year, with an exciting programme of events for adults, children and young people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe festival offers a fantastic opportunity to explore Steinbeck\u2019s literature and local links, while showcasing our excellent arts facilities to the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Commenting on this year\u2019s festival\u00a0<strong>Committee Member Harry Coates\u00a0<\/strong>added: \u201cThe Festival Committee is thrilled with the exceptional quality and the variety of events in this year&#8217;s programme.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cPreparations are in full swing to make this the best festival yet, and the enthusiastic early bookings from the public reflect their excitement. We&#8217;re confident that February will bring another fantastic celebration of all things Steinbeck in Limavady.\u2019<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a remarkable coup for the festival,\u00a0<strong>Muireann Bradley<\/strong>, who captivated audiences on Later\u2026 with Jools Holland, will perform on Saturday 15th February. This intimate performance, part of her Irish tour, promises an unforgettable evening of raw talent and soulful melodies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The festival concludes on Friday 28th February, with\u00a0<strong><em>Voices from a Far Field<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 an enchanting evening of music, stories, and poetry performed in English, Irish, and Ulster Scots.
