{"id":24500,"date":"2025-10-21T08:11:38","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T07:11:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=24500"},"modified":"2025-10-21T08:11:38","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T07:11:38","slug":"ards-puppet-festival-returns-to-ards-arts-centre-this-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2025\/10\/ards-puppet-festival-returns-to-ards-arts-centre-this-weekend\/","title":{"rendered":"Ards Puppet Festival returns to Ards Arts Centre this Weekend!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>Come along to Ards Puppet Festival in Ards Arts Centre, Newtownards on Sunday 26 and Monday 27 October, for lots of puppet family fun!<\/h4>\n<p><strong>The magical festival, organised by Ards and North Down Borough Council, will welcome a packed programme celebrating puppets of all shapes and sizes, through performances, workshops and even a <em>Woodland Wonderland <\/em>filled with curious creatures!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-24501\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1-courtyard-glasgow-gym-4-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"450\" height=\"450\" \/>Sea Legs Puppet Theatre <\/strong>present <em>Tales from The Farmyard<\/em>, where you can meet the Little Red Hen and her famous farmyard friends, along with <em>Edward Lear\u2019s Dream,<\/em> featuring characters like Quangle Wangle and the Owl and the Pussy Cat. Join <em>Flotsam and Jetsam and Penny and the Far Thing <\/em>presented by <strong>Lempen Theatre<\/strong> for visual puppet theatre experiences with beautiful music. Lempen Theatre will also present <em>The Fisher and his Wife,<\/em> a traditional story told from a box, mounted on the front of a penny farthing bike!<\/p>\n<p>Over both days, festival-goers can enjoy lively performances <strong>Professor Queen-Bee\u2019s<\/strong> <em>It\u2019s Bee-Hind You<\/em>, a Punch and Judy-style show with a \u2018green\u2019 twist, marvel at the astonishing <em>Flea Circus<\/em> and explore <strong>Clydebuilt\u2019s <\/strong>stunning puppet exhibition.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Handmade Theatre Company <\/strong>return to Ards Puppet Festival to charm audiences with their <em>Woodland Wonderland. <\/em>Families are invited to take a wander through this magical installation and meet the gorgeous collection of woodland creatures. Children can also participate in puppet-making workshops to create their own characters.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the festival, Arts Community Development Officer, Amy McKelvey said: <em>\u201cWe are thrilled to be presenting a variety of puppet talent at this year\u2019s festival and can&#8217;t wait to welcome families to Ards Arts Centre this half-term for a truly magical event\u00a0which will appeal to young and old alike.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With a mix of bookable shows and free activities, <strong>Ards Puppet Festival <\/strong>promises two-days of fun for the whole family.
