{"id":2860,"date":"2011-03-31T16:53:38","date_gmt":"2011-03-31T15:53:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.whatsonni.com\/blog\/?p=2860"},"modified":"2011-03-31T16:53:38","modified_gmt":"2011-03-31T15:53:38","slug":"pop-stars-actors-politicians-models-reality-stars-and-tv-presenters-the-biggest-ever-fate-awards-has-it-all-this-april","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2011\/03\/pop-stars-actors-politicians-models-reality-stars-and-tv-presenters-the-biggest-ever-fate-awards-has-it-all-this-april\/","title":{"rendered":"POP STARS, ACTORS, POLITICIANS, MODELS, REALITY STARS AND TV PRESENTERS THE BIGGEST EVER FATE AWARDS HAS IT ALL THIS APRIL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The fifth annual Fate Awards, in association with Diet Coke, and the biggest bash in Northern Ireland ahead of the MTV Awards, will see the largest turnout of UK and homegrown celebrities, from the worlds of music, entertainment, politics, reality and some of the highest rated television shows, recognise the cr\u00e8me de la cr\u00e8me of Northern Ireland\u2019s entertainment and hospitality industry.<\/p>\n<p>On 15th April, host Patrick Kielty will be joined on stage in the Europa Hotel by \u2018Celebrity Big Brother\u2019 winners Chantelle Houghton and, soon to be Katie Price\u2019s ex husband, Alex Reid together with former politician and \u2018Strictly Come Dancing\u2019 contestant, Ann Widdecombe; \u2018Eastenders\u2019 and \u2018Gavin and Stacey\u2019s\u2019 actor Larry Lamb and the one and only Shane MacGowan from The Pogues.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018X Factor\u2019 hopeful Katie Waissel and mentor Sinitta will be there, while \u2018voice\u2019 of the \u2018X Factor\u2019 Peter Dickson, will announce the winners throughout the evening.   More than 17 million people watched Katie\u2019s first \u2018X Factor\u2019 performance so she is sure to have some keen interest when she glides along the red carpet.<\/p>\n<p>Our very own, former Miss Northern Ireland, Zoe Salmon, will add some glamour to the evening and she will be battling it out with host Patrick Kielty, Cool FM\u2019s Pete Snodden, TV Presenters Christine Bleakley and Julian Simmons, for the title of \u2018Media Personality\u2019 which was won last year by Gerard McCarthy and who will be on hand to pass it over to this year\u2019s winner.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Starman\u2019 Andrew Stone, who was catapulted to fame in the smash hit series \u2018Pineapple Dance Studios\u2019,  will make his first Fate Awards appearance with music entrepreneur Rob Davies, who also featured in the hit show.<\/p>\n<p>Nutritionist Gillian McKeith will be hoping there are no witchetty grubs on the menu, following her appearance on \u2018I\u2019m A Celebrity\u2019, watched by more than 10 million people; and \u2018Benidorm\u2019s\u2019 Madge (Sheila Reid) will be ditching her mobility scooter to walk the red carpet with Fate Awards stalwart Gail Porter.<\/p>\n<p>Longest serving loose woman Carol McGiffin will be enjoying some lighthearted banter with Northern Ireland comedic genius Roy Walker although Harry Derbidge, known as the \u2018catchphrase king\u2019 from ITV2\u2019s \u2018The Only Way is Essex\u2019 may give Roy a run for his money, while Harry\u2019s co-star, glamour puss Sam Faiers, dazzles on the red carpet.<\/p>\n<p>Local boy Aaron McCusker, Jamie Maguire from Channel 4\u2019s \u2018Shameless\u2019, will be joined by Danny Miller from the Dales \u2013 Aaron Livesy of \u2018Emmerdale\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Michael Mervyn-Jones, Publisher of Fate Magazines, said; &#8220;I really can&#8217;t wait until this year&#8217;s Fate Awards.  The excitement is building for the sold out event and we\u2019ll be celebrating the fifth year of the Fates this year with the largest turnout of celebrities we\u2019ve ever welcomed to Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are really looking forward to welcoming Patrick onto the stage to host the evening as it will be an opportunity for us to applaud the initiative and risk that those in the industry have taken in these challenging financial times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m thrilled that we have managed to attract some of the biggest names in TV right now and I guess it shows how the awards have grown over the years.  Some attending are Fate Awards stalwarts and some are Fate Awards virgins.
