<\/a>Due to be headlined by Father Damo himself (Joe Rooney), a total of eight comedians will turn the iconic G Spot stage into the Giggle Spot for an evening of rapturous humour.<\/p>\nBased on the same premise as the festival\u2019s music platform, the Giggle Spot will showcase a wealth of up-and-coming comedians before being headlined by some established Irish talent.<\/p>\n
Joe Rooney, who made his name as Father Damo in the iconic Father Ted series, will use his unique brand of humour to cap off the first ever Glasgowbury comedy stage.<\/p>\n
Known to audiences throughout Ireland as the whistle thief, Rooney later became a household name for his portrayal of Timmy Higgins in RTE comedy Killinaskully.<\/p>\n
Joining him for Glasgowbury\u2019s inaugural comedy bash will be John Colleary (who also made his name on RTE by featuring on Savage Eye), Colin Geddis (I Am Fighter), Micky Barlett, Adam Laughlin, Raidhri Ward, Shane Todd and Sean Hegarty.<\/p>\n
Festival organiser Paddy Glasgow said he was excited to be adding a new element to the festival.<\/p>\n
\u201cComedy is something that we\u2019ve been looking at introducing for a couple of years now and I\u2019m excited to be able to offer that extra platform.<\/p>\n
\u201cOver the years we\u2019ve tried to celebrate the best in new music and in recent years we\u2019ve also welcomed elements of carnival and other forms of art and entertainment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo hopefully this will offer another platform to aspiring artists and have people smiling even more on the day.\u201d<\/p>\n
The comedy stage will be run in conjunction with Panic Dots.<\/p>\n
