{"id":4048,"date":"2012-03-06T10:55:22","date_gmt":"2012-03-06T09:55:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=4048"},"modified":"2012-03-06T10:55:22","modified_gmt":"2012-03-06T09:55:22","slug":"a-treat-for-car-lovers-this-easter-in-bangor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2012\/03\/a-treat-for-car-lovers-this-easter-in-bangor\/","title":{"rendered":"A Treat For Car Lovers This Easter In Bangor!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>This Easter Monday, April 9<sup>th<\/sup>, Sho\u2019werks will be returning to Bangor for their 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Live Car Show!<\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Easter-Parade-2012-089FC1C.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-4049\" title=\"Easter Parade 2012 0#89FC1C\" src=\"http:\/\/www.whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/Easter-Parade-2012-089FC1C.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"298\" \/><\/a>From 10am \u2013 6pm, over 200 cars, modified to various degrees, ranging from sports, kit and vintage cars will fill the McKee Clock Arena. This spectacular event will see car enthusiasts from all over the country display a huge array of modified cars and competition will be fierce as exhibitors compete in categories for; \u201cBest Interior,\u201d \u201cBest Stance,\u201d \u201cBest ICE (In Car Entertainment),\u201d \u201cShow &amp; Shine (Cleanest Car)\u201d and\u00a0 \u201cCar of the Show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The event promises to display cars \u201cmore luxurious than a Bentley, faster than a Ferrari and with more toys than a Mercedes!\u201d\u00a0 All proceeds from the event will be donated to this year\u2019s chosen charity, The NI Hospice.<\/p>\n<p>Sho\u2019werks was created in 2010\u00a0by a group of\u00a0keen modified\u00a0car enthusiasts.\u00a0Their aim is to keep modified car owners up to date with information on all that\u2019s happening in the car world, from build threads, to drifting, shows, \u201chow to\u2019s\u201d and much more.\u00a0 Last Easter&#8217;s Sho&#8217;werks Live, was hugely successful and attracted almost <strong>40,000<\/strong> visitors to Bangor. The event raised over \u00a32,000 for Paul Ward at The Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children in Belfast, which has gone towards providing much needed equipment for the facility.<\/p>\n<p>Jim Caldwell of Sho\u2019werks comments; <em>&#8220;<\/em><em>Sho&#8217;werks are delighted to be involved in the Council&#8217;s Easter celebrations again this year. It&#8217;s a great family day out and it doesn&#8217;t cost a penny to come down to the McKee Clock Arena to have a look around some amazing cars.\u00a0 We&#8217;re also very grateful to the modified car community for once again giving up their time and money to support a good cause.\u00a0\u00a0This year&#8217;s nominated charity is the NI Hospice and hopefully we can top what was raised at last year&#8217;s show. For more information about Sho\u2019werks, please check out www.showerks.com\u201d<\/em><em><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The PSNI and the Fire Services will also be attending the show relaying important safety information to exhibitors and members of the public.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about the event, Inspector Andy Culbert from the PSNI commented: <em>The drive to reduce collisions on the roads of North Down needs to be something that everyone\u00a0takes an active part\u00a0in, whether by driving safely or promoting safety in others.\u00a0 We are delighted that Sho&#8217;werks not only recognise the need to have a well maintained car, but they also\u00a0believe in\u00a0the importance of\u00a0promoting Road Safety messages to others who are interested in modifying their vehicles.\u00a0 We are looking forward to a great family event that will promote driver safety and help reduce collisions and bad driving on the roads of North Down.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stephen Dunlop, Town Centre Manager has generously allowed free parking at Queen\u2019s Parade Car Park for the duration of the day, an excellent example of local organisations working together.<\/p>\n<p>The car show will be part of the annual Easter Monday Funday which will also include a host of other fun-filled activities including a Pet Farm, a Falconry Display and lots more.
