{"id":4563,"date":"2012-06-03T10:28:10","date_gmt":"2012-06-03T09:28:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=4563"},"modified":"2012-06-03T10:28:26","modified_gmt":"2012-06-03T09:28:26","slug":"comedy-comes-to-glasgowbury","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2012\/06\/comedy-comes-to-glasgowbury\/","title":{"rendered":"Comedy comes to Glasgowbury"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>FOLLOWING the \u2018small but massive\u2019 success of a G Spot comedy stage at last year\u2019s festival, Glasgowbury are delighted to announce its return for 2012.<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Danny-Dowling.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-4564\" title=\"Danny Dowling\" src=\"http:\/\/www.whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/Danny-Dowling.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"375\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a>Headlined by Irish based New Zealand comic <em>Danny Dowling<\/em>, the stage will also feature a plethora of up and coming Irish talent.<\/p>\n<p>Dowling, a regular face around Ireland\u2019s comedy clubs has played everything from support slots for comedy greats including Tommy Tiernan to major Irish comedy festivals.<\/p>\n<p>He may be best known however for winning Ireland\u2019s Come Dine With Me programme with a series high score for throwing 250 custard pies at his fellow contestants.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the day, the G Spot comedy stage, run in conjunction with the team at Panicdots.com, will feature a further 7 slots filled by some fantastic new talent.<\/p>\n<p>Monaghan born comedienne <em>Niamh Marron<\/em>\u2019s exuberant style will work well as the only female acts amongst the men; her excitable style setting her out as one of Ireland\u2019s premier female acts.<\/p>\n<p>Joining them will be a couple of Glasgowbury returnees in <em>Colin Geddis<\/em> (best known for his I Am Fighter work) and <em>Micky Bartlett<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile the line-up is completed by <em>Magic George, Ronan Linskey, Ryan Hand <\/em>and<em> Philip McEwan<\/em> \u2013 acts judged to be showcasing their work to great effect across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cComedy is just one part of what makes a vibrant and exciting festival,\u201d said organiser Paddy Glasgow.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGlasgowbury aims to be the sort of event which showcases new talent across a range of arts.
