GIANT DANCE-OFF... Charlotte Jess from the Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB) is taught some moves by local dance group Razzle Dazzle Kidz (RDK) ahead of NITB\u0092s new interactive Dancing Stone video booth appearing at Victoria Square Shopping Centre, Belfast on November 17-18. The booth tells the romantic story of how giant Finn McCool once danced upon a magical stone at the Giant\u0092s Causeway to win the hand of fair Oonagh. Now, many years on, myth has it that if you were to step on this very same stone, then you would immediately turn into an amazing dancer. Anyone who takes on Finn McCool will be in with the chance of winning tickets to the new Causeway Visitor Centre and one lucky person will win an overnight stay for a family of four at the Causeway Hotel. THINK of Finn McCool and you instantly imagine a tough, mythical Irish warrior. You certainly don’t suddenly conjure up\u00a0thoughts\u00a0of an old romantic who stole the heart of a young\u00a0lady through the art of dance. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

But\u00a0according to\u00a0legend, Finn McCool was quite the charmer and\u00a0at Northern Ireland’s most famous tourist attraction, the Giants Causeway, he once danced upon a stone to win the hand of fair Oonagh. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Now, many years on,\u00a0myth has it that if you were to\u00a0step on this very same stone, then you would immediately turn into an amazing dancer.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB), in an attempt to find out if this is actually true,\u00a0is giving folks the opportunity to dance on\u00a0the stone and to experience its magic.<\/p>\n

NITB will be visiting shopping centres in Northern Ireland with its new Dancing Stone interactive video booth and is encouraging people to have a go.<\/p>\n

The interactive Dancing Stone video booth will be Victoria Square Shopping Centre, Belfast on November 17 \u2013 18 and users can have a dance-off with the giant Finn McCool to get on the leader board.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Anyone who takes on Finn McCool will be in with the chance of winning tickets to the new Causeway Visitor Centre and one lucky person will win an overnight stay for a family of four at the Causeway Hotel.\u00a0 To enter the competition scan the QR code or text DANCE1 to 87080.<\/p>\n

NITB is also encouraging everyone to take a trip to the Giant\u2019s Causeway to find the real dancing stone for themselves.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany people are aware of the myth that the Giant\u2019s Causeway was built by Finn McCool as a way to reach his Scottish rival Benandonner,\u201d said NITB\u2019s Social and Digital Marketing Manager, Kathryn Leech.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe story goes that Finn fell asleep and the Scottish giant came across to find him.\u00a0 Upon seeing that the Scotsman was much larger than her husband, his wife Oonagh wrapped him up and passed him off as her baby.\u00a0 Benandonner began to wonder what size the \u2018child\u2019s\u2019 father must be and made his return to Scotland, tearing up the Causeway as he went,\u201d Kathryn continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe legend of how Finn won the hand of his quick-thinking wife by dancing on a magical stone is lesser known and NITB\u2019s interactive video booth is a fun, interactive way of bringing this story to life.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re sure people will be excited to take on Finn McCool to see if they can rival his impressive dancing skills.\u00a0 We hope everyone will also take some time out to visit the Giant\u2019s Causeway to search for the magical dancing stone and to share the legends that surround this unique tourist attraction with their families so they can continue to be passed down from generation to generation,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
