2013 marks the 400th<\/sup> Anniversary of Bangor\u2019s town charter with a year-long programme of events to celebrate the cultural history of the town.<\/h2>\n

A treat for motoring fans! As part of Bangor's 400th Anniversary celebrations, there will be a special car display of 400 cars taking place outside The Town Hall on Saturday 29th June.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

An exciting motoring event, special celebration concerts and light shows are some of the highlights of the planned programme.<\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you love cars make sure you come along to Bangor Town Hall on Saturday 29th<\/sup> June.\u00a0 From 12pm onwards there will be a display of 400 cars, from vintage to performance. As well as an impressive selection of the finest modified cars that the country\u2019s got to offer, there will also be interesting and varied vehicles from all sorts of clubs including the vintage, classic, military and biking fraternities. At 6pm the closure of the event will be marked by a special \u201cCar Parade\u201d around the town centre, led by the Central Band of The RAF.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the event, Jim Caldwell from organisers Showerks said: \u201cWe are very excited to be organising this special event to mark Bangor\u2019s 400th<\/sup> Anniversary. We will have a huge array of cars on display and are welcoming anyone with an interesting vehicle to take part. Entry is \u00a310 per car but passengers and spectators at the event are free. <\/em><\/p>\n

The online booking form is now live on our website and we encourage you to get your entries in as soon as possible so that you don\u2019t miss out…space is already filling up fast! This year proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the NI Hospice.\u201d

\nOther highlights from the weekend include, The HMS Bangor which will be moored alongside the Eisenhower Pier, armed forces activities on The Pier, a fabulous street theatre programme, children\u2019s crafts and lots more.\u00a0 All of these activities will be taking place on both the Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n

On Sunday 30th<\/sup> June at 3.00 pm over a hundred veterans will parade through the Town Centre to pay tribute to this special anniversary.\u00a0 The Parade will leave The British Legion at 3pm, then make its way around the town to Ward Park where a special Service of Remembrance will be held.<\/p>\n

Other Town Centre attractions that weekend will be the return of the ever popular Fun Fair at The McKee Clock Arena and a special food fair featuring lots of local food traders which will be taking place in The Sunken Gardens and along The Promenade.\u00a0\u00a0 Family activities will also be happening at Project 24 and of course there\u2019s the usual range of entertainment at Pickie Park.<\/p>\n
