But for parents, filling the long days of summer can sometimes be a challenge.<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/50things.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-5976\" title=\"50things\" src=\"http:\/\/www.whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/50things-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>If you need some help keeping your little rascals amused then look no further than the National Trust. At Trust places this summer, children big and small will be encouraged to release their inner \u2018wild\u2019 side by trying to complete 25 of the \u201850 things to do before you\u2019re 11 \u00be\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>From Monday 22 July to Sunday 1 September, simply sign up for free at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationaltrust.org.uk\/50things\">www.nationaltrust.org.uk\/50things<\/a> and download the brand new \u2018wild-time challenge pack\u2019, crammed with a six week adventure planner, activity sheet and plenty of top tips to help boost kids\u2019 outdoor experiences this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, if families log each adventure they complete online, not only will they collect exciting rewards along the way, but if you tick off 25, you will also receive a free National Trust family visit pass and be in with a chance to win the top prize of directing and starring in your very own nature film *.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a taster of what you can do. There are lots more great hints and tips to help you and your family to enjoy the great outdoors at all of the Trust\u2019s special places at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationaltrust.org.uk\/50things\">www.nationaltrust.org.uk\/50things <\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Argory<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Skim a stone<\/strong> \u2013 adjacent to Blackwater River, The Argory is the perfect location for stone skimming.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hunt for bugs<\/strong> \u2013 surrounded by woodlands and gardens, there won\u2019t be a shortage of bugs to discover under rocks and near the river!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Canoe down a river <\/strong>\u2013 there are access points for the Black Water Canoe trail at The Argory and Bond\u2019s Bridge.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Florence Court<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Discover what\u2019s in a pond <\/strong>\u2013 there\u2019s a huge population of all kinds of life beneath the water and mud.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Go on a really long bike ride<\/strong> \u2013 explore the forest for hours with the fantastic bike trails at Florence Court.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Run around in the rain<\/strong> \u2013 with plenty of wind and rain it\u2019s best to enjoy it by having fun and running around!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Mount<\/strong><strong> Stewart<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Catch a falling leaf<\/strong> \u2013 discover a whole world of trees and plants in the spectacular gardens<\/li>\n<li><strong>Make a mud pie <\/strong>\u2013 with plenty of rain and our own lake to help make the best squelchy mud for pies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Create some wild art<\/strong> \u2013 take some inspiration from our topiaries and formal gardens and create something of your own.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nCastle Ward<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Explore inside a tree<\/strong> \u2013 discover the inside of some of the oldest trees at Castle Ward and have fun playing hide and seek.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Track wild animals<\/strong> \u2013 learn to recognise animal prints and tracks, and follow them if you can!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Find your way with a map and compass<\/strong> \u2013 there are over 21 miles of trails for you to navigate through.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Downhill and Hezlett House<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Make a trail with sticks <\/strong>\u2013 how many sticks can you find and how long will you be able to make your trail?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fly a kite<\/strong> \u2013 the cliff top estate is the perfect open space for some windy kite flying.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Go bird watching<\/strong> \u2013 with fantastic coastal views and a bird hide there are lots of birds to look out for.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Rowallane<\/strong><strong> Garden<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Roll down a really big hill <\/strong>\u2013 the gentle, rolling hill at the front of the house is perfect for some dizzying family fun.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Climb a tree<\/strong> \u2013 just the place to work on your tree climbing skills in the secret world at Rowallane.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Make a grass trumpet <\/strong>\u2013 call to each other with your trumpets and see who can do it the loudest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Spending time outdoors is good for your heart and it\u2019s good for your soul and the National Trust has a fantastic range of green spaces &#8211; perfect for your \u201850 things\u2019 adventure.<\/p>\n<p><em>*Terms and conditions apply.
