TV and Stand Up comedian David O\u2019Doherty will be coming to the Alley Theatre on Saturday 30th<\/sup> November with his new show \u2018David O\u2019Doherty Will Try to Fix Everything\u2019.<\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/a>David O\u2019Doherty, the Ryanair James Bond, the Kevin McCloud of the tiny keyboard, former Miss Ireland, the offspring of Shannon\/Pete Doherty, his new look is ‘Jaws era Steven Spielberg’, recipient of the 2008 Edinburgh Comedy Award and inventor of the last remaining swimming stroke \u2018the squid\u2019 (on back, feet first), has written a new comedy show with both talking and songs.<\/p>\n

Having scaled the heights of telemarketing and temping, David O\u2019Doherty first stepped on stage at Dublin\u2019s Comedy Cellar in 1998. In 1999 he won the Channel 4\u2019s \u2018So You Think You\u2019re Funny\u2019 award for new comedians and was runner up in the BBC New Comedy Awards.<\/p>\n

His first full show \u2018The Story of the Boy Who Saved Comedy\u2019 was performed at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2000 and received a nomination for Best Newcomer. He has returned to the festival six more times, his 2006 show \u2018David O\u2019Doherty is my name\u2019 receiving a nomination for best show and his 2008 show \u2018Let\u2019s Comedy\u2019 won the if.comedy Award (former Perrier) for Best Show.<\/p>\n

He has performed around the world at festivals in Melbourne, Montreal, New York and Wellington. He has toured around Ireland with Tommy Tiernan, around Britain with Rich Hall and recently around America with Demetri Martin.<\/p>\n

In 2006 he recorded his first CD \u201cGiggle Me Timbers (or \u2018Jokes Ahoy!\u2019)\u201d at home in his flat in front of 35 people. His first television series \u2018The Modest Adventures of David O\u2019Doherty\u2019 was transmitted on RTE in Ireland in 2007.<\/p>\n

He has written widely for newspapers and magazines, published a book for children, written a play (\u2018Saddled\u2019, with Bryan Quinn \u2013 the world\u2019s first theatrical production to feature live repair of audience members\u2019 bicycles), and a radio series about bee detectives with his brother Mark (\u2018The Bees of Manulla\u2019 RTE). He is currently writing a book about panda.<\/p>\n
