{"id":6652,"date":"2013-11-22T16:07:14","date_gmt":"2013-11-22T15:07:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=6652"},"modified":"2013-11-22T16:07:14","modified_gmt":"2013-11-22T15:07:14","slug":"strabane-makes-way-for-broadway-blockbuster-in-aid-of-clic-sargent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2013\/11\/strabane-makes-way-for-broadway-blockbuster-in-aid-of-clic-sargent\/","title":{"rendered":"STRABANE MAKES WAY FOR BROADWAY BLOCKBUSTER IN AID OF CLIC SARGENT"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>The Strabane based, Black Air Theatre Group, has joined focus with a number of local preforming arts schools to script, choreograph and produce a Broadway musical blockbuster event.<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Pop-Tap-Dance-Academy-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-6653\" title=\"Pop Tap Dance Academy (3)\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Pop-Tap-Dance-Academy-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"461\" height=\"576\" \/><\/a>Due to take place in December at the Alley Theatre, this special event will be raising money for\u00a0 Northern Ireland\u2019s leading cancer charity for children and young people, CLIC Sargent and its Home from Home Appeal.<\/p>\n<p>The stage production will feature performances from the Class Act Theatre Group, the Muchado Stage School and the Pop Tap Dance Academy. Over the next few weeks the groups will be working together to select and practice songs from some of Broadway\u2019s most famous musicals including <em>\u2018Bugsy Malone\u2019, \u2018The Phantom of the Opera, \u2018Mamma Mia\u2019<\/em> and many more ahead of the gala opening on 6 December 2013.<\/p>\n<p>The proceeds from the event will go to the CLIC Sargent Home from Home Appeal which is aiming to build\u00a0 to build two specialist houses close to the Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children and the Belfast City Hospital, NI Cancer Centre that can be used by families of children and young people that are undergoing a cancer treatment.<\/p>\n<p>A family dealing with childhood cancer in Strabane can face a round trip of 160 miles, several times per week, in order to receive the cancer treatment their child needs. This can lead to additional financial and physical stress at what is already an incredibly difficult time. The CLIC Sargent Homes from Home Appeal aims reduce this stress.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the event, organiser, Ryan Quinn said, \u201cRehearsals are going well and the production is starting to take shape.\u00a0 Each of the groups involved have been fantastic and are excited about taking to the stage in December and to preform with a live orchestra.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re also delighted to have the opportunity to raise money for the CLIC Sargent, Homes from Home Appeal.\u00a0 It is such a worthwhile cause and one that everyone is fully behind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Christine McClune, Fundraising Manager, CLIC Sargent added, \u201cHaving spoken with Ryan I know the show will be a tremendous success.\u00a0 We\u2019re delighted that the organisers want to help fundraise for CLIC Sargent.\u00a0 Their efforts are greatly appreciated and will make a big difference in helping us to make the Homes from Home a reality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The event will take place on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 December.\u00a0 For ticket information please contact the box office at the Alley Theatre (028 7138 4444) or visit\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alley-theatre.com\/\">www.alley-theatre.com<\/a>.\u00a0 Tickets are priced at \u00a38(Full) \u00a35(Conc.).
