{"id":6896,"date":"2014-03-09T23:04:06","date_gmt":"2014-03-09T22:04:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=6896"},"modified":"2014-03-09T23:04:06","modified_gmt":"2014-03-09T22:04:06","slug":"armagh-city-set-to-rock-this-saint-patrick%e2%80%99s-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2014\/03\/armagh-city-set-to-rock-this-saint-patrick%e2%80%99s-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"ARMAGH CITY SET TO ROCK THIS SAINT PATRICK\u2019S FESTIVAL"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Armagh City Centre is getting ready to rock on Saturday 15<sup>th<\/sup> March as the blazing rock band known as \u2018The Red Hot Chilli Pipers\u2019 headline a free open air concert as part of the City\u2019s annual Saint Patrick\u2019s festival.<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/RHCP-Image-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-6897\" title=\"RHCP - Image 1\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/RHCP-Image-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"298\" \/><\/a>The concert will take place in the Market Square area of Armagh City Centre at 7.00pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The Red Hot Chilli Pipers\u2019 have been rocking the world from New York to Beijing with a passion for pipes that will leave the audience breathless.<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> <\/span>The group has been in the headlines recently with their own version of Avicii\u2019s hit, \u2018Wake Me Up\u2019, becoming a global sensation after the performed it at the launch of BBC Radio 1\u2019s Big Weekend in Glasgow. The group is sure to put on a show so hot it carries its own health warning and with their versions of hit songs like \u2018Make Me Up\u2019 among others, they are sure to prove popular with piping and non-piping fans alike.<\/p>\n<p>They will be supported by local band \u2018Castlestreet\u2019, who have been compared to Mumford and Sons, yet their sound also draws strongly on the Irish traditional vibe. Local songbird \u2018Catherine Grimley\u2019 will also be joined by \u2018The McCuskers\u2019 whilst \u2018Chris Kavanagh\u2019 will be delighting the audience with his amazing performance of the great Dubliner \u2018Luke Kelly\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>On the night there will also be a special appearance from mentalist David Meade while the compere for the event is Connor Phillips.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Castlestreet\u2019 will open the concert at 7.00pm, followed by \u2018Catherine Grimley &amp; The McCuskers\u2019 who will take to the stage at 7.45pm. \u2018The Legend of Luke Kelly\u2019 will perform from 8.35pm and \u2018The Red Hot Chilli Pipers\u2019 will take to the stage form 9.35pm to 10.35pm.<\/p>\n<p>The concert is free to attend and no tickets are required but the public are advised that gates will open from 6.30pm.
