{"id":7536,"date":"2014-06-23T09:31:14","date_gmt":"2014-06-23T08:31:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=7536"},"modified":"2014-06-23T10:22:21","modified_gmt":"2014-06-23T09:22:21","slug":"harbour-hoedown-comes-to-groomsport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2014\/06\/harbour-hoedown-comes-to-groomsport\/","title":{"rendered":"Harbour Hoedown Comes To Groomsport!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>This year\u2019s Groomsport Music Festival will take on a distinctly Cajun feel with the arrival of the first Harbour Hoedown.<\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/hayseed-dixie-4fb2011937421.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-7537\" title=\"hayseed-dixie-4fb2011937421\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/hayseed-dixie-4fb2011937421.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"252\" \/><\/a>With a fantastic entertainment line-up featuring flavours of Bluegrass and Cajun, this free event taking place on Saturday July 5 is a must for music lovers!<\/p>\n<p>BBC\u2019s Joe Lindsay from \u201cAcross The Line\u201d and \u201cGetaways\u201d will guide the audience through the event\u2019s performers.\u00a0 First on stage at <strong>7pm<\/strong> are The Hardchargers.\u00a0 The Hardchargers do exactly what it says on the tin &#8211; deliciously irreverent dirty blues.\u00a0 It\u2019s exciting, provocative and honest, ranging from down-home washboard\/ resonator\/double bass workouts, to a heady blend of twangy electric blues and roadhouse\u00a0style rock.\u00a0 A blistering three-piece, The Hardchargers have performed at a stellar list of music and arts festivals all over the island of Ireland as well as appearing alongside cult US artists Bob Log III, The Reverend Peyton\u2019s Big Damn Band and just recently, The Waterboys.<\/p>\n<p>Next up, is The Flatville Aces \u2013 formed in the late 80s, this four piece from Southhampton are Britain\u2019s best exponents of Cajun-flavoured roots dance music, playing Louisiana styled Cajun, comprising fiddle, accordion, acoustic bass and guitar with vocals in English and French.<\/p>\n<p>The superb headline act will not disappoint, taking to the stage at 9.30pm, Hayseed Dixie are an internationally renowned outfit, headlining festivals all over the world and have played the main stage at Glastonbury.\u00a0 They perform classic and original rocks songs by the likes of AC\/DC, Motorhead and Queen in a fast, furious American blue-grass style they call \u201cRockgrass,&#8221; complete with fiddles, guitars, mandolins, dueling banjos and hillbilly harmonies. The four members of the group are world class musicians and their show is highly entertaining and family friendly.<\/p>\n<p>For the children; \u00a0there will be a funfair in operation from the afternoon; and from 2pm \u2013 4pm at Cockle Row; there will be glitter tattoos, children\u2019s crafts, balloon modelling and World of Owls followed by a magician, face-painting and Party Animals NI from 4pm \u2013 6pm.<\/p>\n<p>There will also be a food available on site from 4pm providing an array of food and refreshments, another great reason to visit Groomsport and make a day of it!
