{"id":9033,"date":"2015-04-24T11:59:40","date_gmt":"2015-04-24T10:59:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/?p=9033"},"modified":"2015-04-24T12:00:39","modified_gmt":"2015-04-24T11:00:39","slug":"spring-into-may-with-the-armagh-apple-blossom-fair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2015\/04\/spring-into-may-with-the-armagh-apple-blossom-fair\/","title":{"rendered":"SPRING INTO MAY WITH THE ARMAGH APPLE BLOSSOM FAIR"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><strong><em>Discover Armagh\u2019s rich apple-growing heritage with fun, food and frolics on Monday 4<sup>th<\/sup> May<\/em><\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/pressrelease26.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-9034\" title=\"pressrelease\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/pressrelease26.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"432\" height=\"293\" \/><\/a>Fun, food and plenty of frolics are fully guaranteed on Monday May 4th when Armagh officially marks the start of a busy summer festival season with the return of this year\u2019s Apple Blossom Fair.<\/p>\n<p>Held at the beautiful Loughgall Country Park on the first May bank holiday Monday, the annual Apple Blossom Fair brings together a huge range of exciting family-friendly activities and an unrivalled variety of stalls featuring some of the finest local artists and artisanal producers \u2013 all of which have joined together to celebrate Armagh\u2019s rich apple-growing heritage in a fun and exciting way.<\/p>\n<p>Famous for its \u2018Orchard County\u2019 status, Armagh has long been recognised for growing some of the finest apples in the world, and the annual Apple Blossom Fair is specially-designed to celebrate that tremendous success while showcasing all the top quality of local food and produce available to locals and visitors alike.<\/p>\n<p>There are plenty of activities for children too with traditional country games, a mad-hatters picnic, children\u2019s musical entertainment and much, much more.<\/p>\n<p>There will also be the choice of two specially-designed tours available \u2013 the first at Ardress House, a stunning National Trust property set in the heart of an orchard, where visitors can enjoy a guided tour of the farmhouse and savour some home-made apple tart, and the second, at the Armagh Apple Farm owned by Armagh Cider Company.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the fair, Armagh\u2019s orchards will be brought to life with special \u2018tasting &amp; pressing tours\u2019, which will combine the unique stores of the local industry and the chance for everyone to sample the produce and get directly involved.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the award-winning Armagh Cider Company will delight everyone with an exclusive \u2018behind the scenes\u2019 glimpse into what goes on at a real working apple orchard, before offering visitors the chance to have a go at pressing their own apple juice and sampling the ciders and juices they make.<\/p>\n<p>And, if that wasn\u2019t enough to whet your appetite, there will also be a traditional afternoon tea, an apple tart competition and a barbeque \u2013 just in time for everyone to sit back, relax and enjoy the live musical entertainment on offer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/APPLE-BLOSSOM-LEADERBOARD.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9036\" title=\"APPLE BLOSSOM LEADERBOARD\" src=\"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/APPLE-BLOSSOM-LEADERBOARD.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lord Mayor, Darryn Causby, said:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe annual Apple Blossom Fair is an integral part of Armagh\u2019s bank holiday and summertime fun, and, after last year\u2019s tremendous success, I\u2019m thrilled that the event will be even bigger in 2015, with a fantastic and exciting mix of live entertainment, food, tours and demonstrations planned to ensure that everyone has a great day out.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2026\/\/<\/p>\n<p>The Apple Blossom Fair starts at 10:30am on Monday 4<sup>th<\/sup> May and runs until 6:00pm. Admission is only \u00a34 per person \u2013 and under 4\u2019s are free.
