{"id":937,"date":"2010-02-23T17:46:59","date_gmt":"2010-02-23T16:46:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.whatsonni.com\/blog\/?p=937"},"modified":"2010-02-23T17:48:46","modified_gmt":"2010-02-23T16:48:46","slug":"937","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/whatsonni.com\/news\/2010\/02\/937\/","title":{"rendered":"2010 Moving on Music Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-938\" href=\"http:\/\/www.whatsonni.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=938\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-938\" title=\"moving on music\" src=\"http:\/\/www.whatsonni.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/moving-on-music-300x277.jpg\" alt=\"moving on music\" width=\"300\" height=\"277\" \/><\/a>The <strong>2010 Moving on Music Festival<\/strong> is taking place in various venues in Belfast from <strong>23rd-28th March<\/strong> and will feature a wide range of acts that span everything from folk to funk to free jazz!<\/p>\n<p>Some of the highlights of this year\u2019s festival include acclaimed Geordie folk act, <strong>The Unthanks<\/strong>, Scottish post-electro band <strong>Errors<\/strong> (Black Box, Friday 26th March, with support from local lads <strong>Kowalski<\/strong>), a live dub show featuring legendary producer <strong>Adrian Sherwood and MC Brother Culture<\/strong> (who provided vocals on the Thunder track on Prodigy\u2019s 2009 album, Invaders Must Die) and <strong>Buttons, Barrels and Bows<\/strong> &#8211; an evening of traditional Irish music from a trio of outstanding musicians \u00a0(Caoimhin O\u2019Raghallaigh, Catherine McEvoy and Micheal O\u2019Raghallaigh).<\/p>\n<p>Some of the best local talent will also be showcased during the festival, as Bangor double-bassist\/composer <strong>Dave Kane<\/strong> peforms as part of the exciting jazz quintet <strong>Dave Kane\u2019s Rabbit Project<\/strong>, upcoming Armagh-born jazz drummer <strong>David Lyttle<\/strong> will appear with his group and special guest \u2013 American trumpet player, <strong>Terell Stafford<\/strong>, while local pianist\/composer <strong>Simon Mawhinney<\/strong> will perform a free concert of twentieth-century and contemporary music, in association with Queen\u2019s University, Belfast.<\/p>\n<p>The festival will also encompass 2 exciting events in association with The MAC (Northern Ireland\u2019s world-class home for the arts, due to open in 2011)&#8230;a whistle-stop piano-a-thon featuring acclaimed pianist <strong>Matthew Bourne<\/strong> and a seminar entitled <strong>Collective Thinking <\/strong>that will focus on the value of setting up music collectives.<\/p>\n<p>To view a full copy of the programme go to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.movingonmusic.co.uk\/\">http:\/\/www.movingonmusic.co.uk\/<\/a><\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The 2010 Moving on Music Festival is taking place in various venues in Belfast from 23rd-28th March and will feature a wide range of acts that span everything from folk to funk to free jazz!
