The Green Holiday Cottages - The Kiln

Since acquiring the old mill we have undertaken an extensive renovation project to transform the buildings into modern comfortable holiday homes and create the perfect family holiday location in this tranquil riverside setting. The kiln is the fourth of our cottages to be completed. This cosy 2 storey cottage sleeps five in the original kiln of the corn mill.

This part of the building is over 250 years old and retains much of its historical character. In the restoration we have tried to embrace the old architecture where we could giving the Kiln some quirky features, like the ground floor kitchen window. The Kiln sleeps 5 in 2 bedrooms, a double and a triple. There is a kitchen/living area with access out to the garden and play area. The shower room is upstairs and there is a small WC downstairs off the living area. The Kiln is a quirky building with a beautiful original Mourne Granite exterior and a warm comfortable interior which would accommodate both a family or couples.

The large communal garden by the Kilkeel River is a relaxing place to enjoy some alfresco dining or a morning coffee. There is a garden terrace and outdoor kitchen, bbq and pizza oven to enjoy. The garden has a play area, with swings and a slide. The birdsong is a wonderful soundtrack which will accompany your stay at The Kiln. There are a number of birds who live along the river bank including nesting herons, dippers and buzzards.
