Banana Block

Banana Block is a new living museum and events space set within a historic linen mill and inspired by the curious connections between Belfast and bananas. Peel the banana a little further and you’ll find a space for original ideas, creative learning and new connections.

A space for celebrating eccentric histories and creating incredible futures.  We have no Bananas but....we have a Record Store, A mushroom Farm, Cheese Makers, A pop up cafe space, a Banana Ring, Banana beer and an incredible line up of local artists and producers.

The Banana Ring - Central to Banana Block is an interactive display of banana plants and other rare species which we are growing in homage to the mill’s former gardener, William Richardson, who was one of the ?rst people to cultivate bananas in the British Isles.

East Block Bazaar -  The East Block Bazaar is our resident monthly market made up of local artisan producers, makers, growers, vintage and curios. Produced in partnership with Little Fox Events- the brains behind the Belfast Flea and Bazaar markets at St Anne’s Cathedral- this market breathes life into Sundays in the East. Think Sunday markets in East London or the Rastro in Madrid – it’s a place to meander round, pick up local handmade gifts, meet friends, eat, drink or sweep away the hangover cobwebs.  Set to a backdrop of carefully curated music by Sound Advice and Banana Block.   Takes place the last Sunday of every month. Free entry.

We run a range of events from exhibitions, workshops, tours and we know how to throw a party. Visit our What's On section of our website for more details.
