POETRY READING WITH DEIRDRE CARTMILL AND MAUREEN BOYLE

From John Donne’s wife to Mary Magdalene, from Strabane to hidden corners of Europe, these acclaimed Arlen House poets will transport you to places far and near, real and imagined, and bring lost voices to life. Find out what inspires these poets from Tyrone to search out untold stories and little-known places.

The Last Spring of the World is Maureen Boyle’s second full collection of poems, with stories of place and people previously untold – from the story of Boyle’s hometown, Strabane to the story of John Donne’s wife Ann on the Isle of Wight. The Wind Stills to Listen was birthed when Deirdre Cartmill had two heart attacks in a week at the age of forty-three. The poems in her third collection dive unflinchingly into grief and loss, explore boundaries and thresholds, open to the fragile promise of love, and let us hear the voice of Mary Magdalene sing out. Many poems are inspired by her travels across Europe.
