The high-speed Buggy Ireland Championship will be at the Maze, Long Kesh on Saturday August 23 with up to 50 crosskart drivers from across the island of Ireland vying for top spot with trophies, tyres and cash prizes up for grabs.

The motorbike-engine buggies will compete against the clock to gain penultimate round championship points following events at Kirkistown, St Angelo and two Cavan visits.

Among the entries is championship leader Paul Mooney with MV Racing. The County Tyrone man sits 20 points ahead of William Armstrong in a second MV Racing entry, who will also start at the Maze event with the challenge of reducing the gap.

Casmat is represented with the likes of Fergal Deighan who leads Division One for 1000cc entries while Stephen Reynolds’ Labase entry is not far behind.

Tied on points at the top of Division Three, Downpatrick’s Stephen Kearney and Cavan’s Thomas Wedlock are both on the starter list at what could prove a vital round.

Already a popular sport across Europe, the Buggy Ireland Championship, that boasts 130 registered drivers, was devised in 2024 and continues to grow with new events that sees the upcoming Maze event added to the calendar where a three-lap track awaits. Each driver will take to the track up to six times.

Action starts at 10am and spectator admission is £10, accompanied under 16 FREE and a saver ticket for X3 people arriving in the one vehicle is £25. Parking, under marshal instruction, is free with the entrance via GATE 3 only at the Maze, Long Kesh site with arrows directing through to the event site.
