Starting Point:
In front of the County Infirmary (Old City Hospital) 41 Abbey Street Armagh BT61 7DY. This building is across the road from the Armagh Robinson Library, close to St Patrick’s Church of Ireland Cathedral and Vicar's Hill.
End Point:
Ogle Street, at Red Ned's Pub (10 minutes walk from starting point)
Parking: Car parking is available at Dobbin Street Lane car park which is close to the end point of the tour at Red Ned's pub. Car parking is also available across the city centre.
Distance:
Less than 1 km with some steep gradients and steps.
Dress:
Dress appropriately for the cold as this tour will take place entirely outdoors - a raincoat, boots/walking shoes are recommended.
Price:
£16 including refreshments at Red Ned's pub for a drink of your choice (over 18s only) or Mackles Ice Cream for specialty coffee/hot chocolate, milk shake or ice-cream.
DESCRIPTION
This Walking Trail of approx. 75 mins is a mix of gruesome tales of days-gone-by plus a few surprises along the way. Led by knowledgeable costumed guides, the route is steeped in local folklore and participants are transported back in time to encounter the city's ghostly inhabitants and haunted landmarks. As dusk descends you can cover your ears if you don’t want to listen to stories of the grisly, fearsome characters or mysterious happenings of the past. Tread the narrow streets lightly - you don’t know who is waiting to get you!!
The tour concludes at Red Ned's with a drink of your choice or alternatively a voucher for an ice-cream treat or specialty coffee at the nearby Mackles Ice Cream, Dobbin Lane.
Audio devices will be provided for the tour to ensure everyone can hear the guide from a distance.
This tour is suitable for 13+ years of age. Those aged 13-18 must be accompanied by an adult (over 18).
